Nick is clearly skinwalking as April's new man.
Skinwalking?

Here, I see a well built, well proportioned man in a fitted suit, with neutral, blending greys that are stylish yet don't draw attention, with the styling of a professional yet the posture of a military man with a lightly sculpted beard, who is wearing square, darkened sunglasses that compliment his desire for obscurity and maintenance of dignity. Head, held down, not drawing attention, yet avoiding the countenance of shame. Knowing nothing about him, I see a man who wants no part of any shenanigans.

Here, I see a colourblind insect with extensive indoor pallor who looks like he's about to sell me a gift voucher to a rusty Ferris wheel he has a hefty insurance policy on, accompanied and deformed by the involuntary slant of forced wakefulness, a loud mismatched suit, shirt and tie with all the subtly of a red light district in Vatican City complete with reflective, bug eyed glasses solely to reflect and magnify the faults of everyone but their wearer. Knowing way too much about him, I see a theoretical life form who would sell it's entire family for the opportunity to give a blowjob to a real man and have it enshrined as part of US legal history.

So if it's an attempt at imitation I'd say it's a narrow miss.

I bet this is because he's not calling in each day to the drug testing hotline (https://www.mnmonitoring.com/random-testing) to find out if he has to test or not. He's then blaming them for him not knowing.
I bet it's not even that. I'd put money on it's really Nick just decided he didn't have to test anymore and he stopped caring. He even said he didn't have to test anymore. That's the disagreement.

I agree with you. I do however think Nick is 100% trying to emulate April's new man, it totally explains the sudden change in outfits and the dumbass glasses he always wears now. I wonder if he's trying to show April that he can be just as her younger and more accomplished man, or if he is just trying to convince himself. Either way, lol.
He's such a sad infantile excuse of a man. Forever a slave to his own compulsive need to be cool and do whatever he wants.

Nick started using again, that's most likely why he didn't show.

I also find it quite funny and strange, that he's putting it down to a disagreement. Like somehow he has a say in this matter.

do you think Nick would've done black face if the new man was black?
I do.
Nick would have done that no matter what

Nick clearly loves April but is stuck with Kayla who he's resented for a while.

I'm not sure Nick ever loved April. Hell I don't think he can love anyone but himself tbh. I think the fact that he can't have April is making him create this deranged fantasy where they had the perfect thing together, If only stupid sexy Aaron hadn't ruined everything (and also his wife and kids, but he's not willing to admit that out loud). Hiding April away in the guest house, to drag out and fuck whenever Qayla wasn't around - nothing about that is even close to the actions of someone in love. It was and always will be about Nick, and Nick getting to have what he wants.

Nick's Twitter timeline right now is stuff like this over and over.

Scroll back another twelve hours or so and he's just one of the girls. Fashion seems to be his latest area of pretend expertise.

Kayla only looks bad in her mugshot because of meanies at the sheriff's office.

A big reason Nick put April in the side house was also because he was scared that if April was set loose, she would talk. I would also guess that he convinced her to sign an NDA and paid her off under the guise of helping her to set up with a place to stay.

I think he did, April appeared to be the only woman except his mother who on some level has or had a mutual affection towards him, even if they both mistook their love for drugs for love for each other. Nick's marriage ought to be a cautionary tale for the incel crowd out there on what would happen if they actually got their "government-mandated girlfriends".

"government-mandated girlfriends"
The marriage should be a cautionary tale for girls to not quit college.
Get a degree, get 2 years of professional work in to start a work history, then marry and have a handful of kids.
At least then you can, in the unlikely event of the husband turning into a drug addicted vegetable, leave and return to work, instead of being trapped in a loveless marriage with a retard screaming at social media trolls.

You're assuming Qayla is disatisfied with the marriage and not content to be able to be passed around while zonked out on benzos 24/7, lying in bed all day and watching Star Trek reruns.

And even if - she would have years-long hole in her resume, I doubt it'd be so easy to find work again in an environment where your CV determines your worth as a person.
