Final Fantasy XIV - Kiwi Free Company

That was what happened on the First with the Flood of Light being halted to prevent the Astral Calamity. But with Ice and Lightning, there were actual Calamities in Eorzea that 100% happened coinciding with the Storm Surge and now Evercold, there was one for each of the elements. Doesn't that mean the Rejoining was successfully completed on those shards?
Clamaties have to be caused on BOTH places, one doesn't cause the other, the Ascians had to cause both, and then they have to do enough that a rejoining occurs, there's likely a peak amount of aether activity required.

likely, they just never did enough damage, afterall as bad as the First was, they didn't rejoin, we know the 9th had it pretty bad too but they also didn't.

I'm not exactly holding my breath on Evercold being great but if they manage to unfuck some things I'd be pleasantly surprised. Maybe even a tiny bit entertained if it fucks up harder

Didn't realize there was a fan fest going on and of course I'm left disappointed with the new announcements. We have basically no info at all about what's actually going to be changing moving forward. But of course they have the new tranny hair colors ready to show off. I'm so glad we are fully embracing clown world. Fuck any kind of cohesive style or theme. More leather jackets, and shrek face paint. I can't wait until all my parties are color vomit because my specific shade of baby blue skin makes me so quirky and unique.

We once again miss out on a FFXIV raid because he have to appease the anime fans. I wonder if the Evangelion cross over will include a scene where the WoL jacks off on some girl in her hospital bed.

Battlepasses are inescapable even in my MMOs. I don't see how your weekly adventure points are any different from getting tomestones. I don't hate it but just seems like tomesotne with extra steps.

My biggest complaint is how item level is now for the whole character. What is the fun in leveling alts anymore? I get that hardcore raiders bitch and complain because of the way gearing is time gated on launch, but that's such a specific issue for them to delete gearing from the game. If it works how they say it'll work this is makes the shelf life of content even shorter as people will have nothing left to farm. Maybe they are counting on cosmetics being rewarding enough, but did they not learn from criterion dungeons that people want to chase item levels?

This isn't the full trailer right? They'll add in the new jobs later If I'm remembering correctly.

It looks decent, and I'll definitely come back for evangelion. Hope the new tank job is badass, I've heard speculation based on Mr Yoshi Ps shirt that its based on the Judges from 12.

Excited for the shield(?) tank job, especially if being built for the new evolved rotations means it isn't fucking Fell Cleave equivalent spam for the umpteenth time

We won't get a full trailer until October with JP fanfest. This is how it is every expac - NA fanfest is the teaser, EU fanfest is the teaser with like 10 more seconds of content, and JP fanfest is the full trailer.

It's a design decision that likely doesn't just encompass Tomestones, but a move away from "Daily Rewards" to Weekly/Bi-weekly ones and removes all of the terrible UI/UX around tomestones (including changing from one type to another, buying upgrade items, anything to do with Poetics, reward structure).

I'm most excited to see how that filters out to roulettes, if they can be stretched further away from "do one a day" into getting to do more of the content you like to do.

I thought it was a fairly solid fanfest that at least addressed a lot of what's wrong with the game currently so it's a first step in the right direction; but only time will tell if they deliver on it.

lmao FFXIV is coming to Switch 2 but with a separate sub (but you get a discount if you're already subbed on another platform)

I can't tell who enjoys fucking their users more - Squeenix, Nintendo, or Sony

Lmao that's insane. It being on the Switch 2 is actually pretty cool but the fact you have to pay more on top...

Character on his shirt was Rhitahtyn sas Arvina, a boss from ARR solo instance.

He could fit for both of the new jobs. He looks like tank and has two shields so tank would obviously fit, but those shields on his hands are also cannons so ranged physical DPS would also fit.

New expansion towns look neat. Rejoining is good. WoW great vault system in place of mindnumbing roulettes is good. Button pruning is good. More Alphinaud and co is bad. Except Estinien. He can stay. Tacky licensed raid is bad. Writing quality since the latter ShB patches is unlikely to improve. Overall looks just okay.

they ARE the cast of the game.

I have never understood the idea of dumping the cast, the entirety of FF14 is about your band of nerds and their autist warrior

The scions were not the main cast of the game. The game alternated between the scions and a party of locals from whichever country the story was taking place in. The party from the country was always much more varied and engaging than the scions. Estinien, Yslaye, Haucherfant, Aymeric, Hien, Gosetsu, etc. It was not until ShB that the Scions were reintroduced and became the main party from then on forever.

The scions are very bland and samey. They are all white haired twink academics from the same island country. They are all loving good guys, very pleasantable and bookish and are a hivemind. They are going to give flowery words and technobabble and be ambassadors and so on. It is boring and drags things out. Most villains in this game do not change their mind despite however much time is wasted by alphinaud and co pleading with or "reasoning" with them.

The locals tended to be more self-interested rather than generic universal good guys. They also saved their breath and tended to fight rather than waste time on futile negotiations. They are also not as ridiculously forgiving. Hien heard Yotsuyu but wasn't going to let her off the hook and was still going to behead her, like he should. They had more varied backgrounds. We also got some manly men with Hien and Gosetsu.

When Yoshi-P said that Endwalker 6.0 was going to be the end of the original saga and starting with 6.1 we would go ointo a new saga, I was hoping that it would have been the Scion's last outting and we had gotten a completely brand new, better constructed cast starting with the patch story.

The best thing to do with the Scions is to rotate them in and out of the story depending on what the expansion is about. Take 1-3 Scions with you for the expansion while the rest stay behind. Completely dumpstering them is a bad idea and if you try to fully replace them you risk the new cast being lazy copies of them or everyone being Wuk levels of shit. Balance is key.

No, G'raha explains the Umbral Calamities as a 'disaster which cracks the barrier' between them, ie. a Rejoining. Also, he outright says that the Source is 'seven times rejoined', one for each of the prior Calamities implying Calamities and Rejoinings are one and the same.

As I understood it, the Calamity on the Source and an elemental Flood on one of the Shards act as a feedback loop essentially making eachother worse.
You're right in that there does have to be an event in the Source to prime it, e.g. Black Rose, but it is pretty explicitly stated that the insane storms/floods/earthquakes of Eorzea's past only grew to Calamity-size because of the Rejoinings taking place.

Decided to reactivate my account and discovered that some fucking jeets compromised my login when I was unsubbed and I guess paid enough game time to get in on my character long enough to take all my gil. Unfortunately for them, all my really valuable shit was on my third and fourth retainers which I don't think they got access to

Extremely fucking weird. There's a rollback process but your character is basically unavailable for 7-10 days and it requires you to do the driver license shuffle. Not worth it for the like 5 mil they swiped.
