The same thing occurred with "the 13th Tribe." It insists Ashkenazi Jews are descended from Khazars, a region in Turkey, rather than a mishmash of Levantine and European DNA. Khazars were ethnic Turks who adopted Judaism before being defeated by Syvatoslav, son of Olga of Kiev.
