Funniest thing is these boomers managers love to hire young women in corporate roles just to spit game on them. So many young women in made up corporate roles because boomers want some eye candy and a chance to hit on them (or help them go up the corporate ladder

). It's one reason they push for in office work the most.
I worked primarily with older women who had daughters and they kept asking me why I didn't "Just" find an office job because their daughters had no issues doing so. All a young woman has to do is show up in a white shirt, navy blazer, jeans and pumps, "Hi I'd like to be the eye candy secretary in your company

", hired on the spot. And I get it, women who waited tables for 2 years are safe bets for people-pleasing and doing what the boss asks of them, including a handy under the table. They can fake interest because they've done so to all their 'besties' for 12 years while badmouthing them in private.
I went on a long walk with my dad who's a smith and been doing whatever blue collar job needed doing until he got laid off (total of thrice in his life, of course). We walked past a bunch of young dudes doing hard labor with a radio and energy drinks and he just went "man, nobody can do proper work anymore". I'd like to think it's the boomer in him but like, it seemed kinda true. Two young dudes were building a million-dollar mansion for some guy who probably sat in an office in the capital somewhere while they can barely pay rent themselves.
It made me realize how even employment is a fucking blessing these days. And if you're also not going home crying every day? Oh boy you hit the lottery. I keep wanting more for myself; pay, fancy clothing, linkedin connections etc, but I catch myself wondering why. It won't make me friends or give me purpose in life. I could have that already if I bothered looking for it. Join a club, hit up a speeddating event, sit in a pub friday night. Yet even those things have been brought up in youth media and it's already on the way out. The "Ironic" visits to the pub by 24 year olds following Covid are over with. They're back to tinder-fucking and hard liquor in the clubs.
I want my parents to know I got a career going before they kick it, but having faced 8 months of torture in a "good office job", I realized I'd rather they leave this earth knowing I got it good. A friend's couch to crash on, the means to navigate jobs even if they're stacking boxes in a warehouse etc. Hobbies that'll give me some societal relevance. And those things don't cost money.
