Dude - people do shit for all kinds of reasons. Back when I used to teach piano lessons, I taught this little jew kid who's family immigrated from Israel. Apparently in Israel his father had been a cop. The kid had his father's hat in his room. It was blue and said "Israeli Police" on it in both English and Hebrew. I thought it was a kitschy little item because I've never seen that anywhere before and one time when the kid really annoyed the fuck out of me during a lesson, on the way out at the end I just decided to swipe it and stick it in my backpack. He quit lessons a few months later and I used to wear that hat all the time.
