Assassin's Creed thread

The first Assassin’s Creed should’ve.

...and there is Ubisoft Reportedly Remaking Original Assassin’s Creed After Black Flag Resynced

Assassins-Creed-1-Remake.webp

Now it remains to see how much they will ruin this one with their woke shit and always online connection.

Wasn't there already a rerealse? I remember some sort of controversy where they removed the original listing of AC1 from Steam.
IIRC there was some weird DX10 update they pushed. In other news AC1 Director's Cut and AC: Revelations are on deep discount, but not Brotherhood for some reason...

I don't get this "it's not an RPG" motto of theirs. You can equip and upgrade weapons, it's an open world with treasures and shit to find. What makes an RPG then? Going to a quest giver instead of picking from a list? Wait, don't you do that in Black Flag anyway?

Sure you can upgrade your ship and buy better weapons as you go through the story but it's not a RPG in a "numbers go up" way.

It is an RPG in the classic Assassin's Creed way where, yes, you upgrade your health and ship or buy a sword with more damage, but when they say it's not an RPG they mean it's not the new style of Assassin's Creed where you collect forty billion weapons with different rarities, choose dialogue options with romance and such, and juggle forty abilities in the middle of combat.

I’m glad they didn’t change the combat and just tweaked the original style to make it more fluid. Original rumours said it would have the RPG era combat which killed my excitement. Sad state of the industry when a remake of a 13 year old game is going to probably wind up on a lot of people’s GOTY lists.
I mean, if they are capable of destroying what is arguably the best game in the franchise there is no hope left for Ubisoft.

Pretty sure they know this very well and their heads are on the chopping block.

Other than that I still am not over the fact an entire Wikipedia article is currently a blatant lie because some Weeaboo Britbong wrote fanfiction that they took as the final truth while no actual Japanese historian says this was true but merely farfetched speculation and leaps in logic.

Wasn't the dude fired and discredited? I remember the nips kicking him out of the university.
There were strong allegations that he was full of shit and making things up while also editing Wikipedia articles for over a decade under the name TottoriTom (Tottori being the city/prefecture where he first started teaching), but never saw anything confirming he was fired or left the university after all that.

Think the guy just locked down all his socials and went dark, also some Nips blasted his written works saying its a lot of very biased and Western POV writing making great leaps of logic overall.

Yeah, pretty sure he was never fired. He wasn't delisted from the university last I checked, and his papers on the whole thing were still available.

The bong should honestly be chased out of the country for trying to hoodwink them with his revisionist bullshit. That or made to commit seppuku with a nigger samurai designated to complete the beheading - only for him to slowly bleed out and die as nigger samurai never existed.

I know one they could use but unfortunately for that asshole he's as fictional as Yasuke.

Nigger edited and sourced his own fanfiction while playing a game of translation telephone to get his tripe passed the Japs. Essentially telling them one thing while propagandizing westerners with his literal goyslop on the sly. Iudea Delenda Est indeed. Commie is just laying low now while the historical revisionism brand known as wikipedia keeps his slop up to continue hoodwinking unquestioning cattle (and being fodder for his fellow epstein tribesmen to use for netflix sludge) despite the Japanese government itself rebuking it. Tommy needs a visit from the Yakuza or Yamaguchi's ghost. Kike. Eternal vigilance is needed to counter the wormy culture parasite jew.

What bothers me most is that Yasuke was always just named as a retainer on that Wikipedia article before they went and decided to make their own historical negro fanfiction after the game announcement.

Then suddenly every source they point to is either from Lockley or loops back to Lockley at some point.

From here on out sperging only:

The whole claim: "but he got a sword, stipend and housing" meant literally nothing at the time because of the following:

- He was and remained nameless (every samurai got a family name when they became samurai) why not do that here in such an exceptional case because it is mentioned he was given a short sword, house and stipend or at least have it briefly mentioned in writing he was made (honorary) samurai in a time when the most mundane shit was written down in the Shincho Koki, the chronicles of Nobunaga?

- Primary sources named him a 'servant', only in much later sources did they begin adding dramatics, still not mentioned as samurai anywhere though

- There were multiple first hand accounts he got called an animal by Mitsuhide and was not allowed to be killed (or ordered to kill himself through seppuku) which basically reaffirms he was just an exotic pet or curiosity then sent back to the Jesuits

- The sword he carried was at best a short sword, more likely just a ceremonial dagger

All in all, the claim is based on (vague) assumptions and they do not have the receipts to prove it was so in any source whatsoever, therefore the term 'retainer' is to this point still more accurate.

The best counterpoints for that time were Toyotomi Hideyoshi who came from nothing as a peasant and was granted a name to establish himself as samurai through good service, after him then came William Adams around 23 years later who was written of in detail on his status and ascension to rank of not just samurai but hatamoto, essentially an elite bannerman under the Shogun himself.

Replayed the first game. I think way too many people over-empathize the villains or muh grayness. You literally see the Templars cripple and enslave people just because they think they're too stupid or ill-fit to take care of themselves. Mass murder through poisoned wine, mass murder for funsies, book burnings, and executing priests out of sheer paranoia. What the fuck are people talking about? There's Altair rightfully doubting his teacher's words time and time again because damn near everything he says is open to interpretation, and he's vague as fuck about what he's actually trying to say. That one defining part of the creed too. And what do you know, he was using everyone and manipulating them the entire time.

Ironically, despite the plot elements about things not being what they seem and the doubtful nature of truth, the guys who say that shit about this game are exactly what it's talking about in blind belief of what they're being told.

Replayed the first game.
The first game, and pretty much every game in the franchise barring Black Flag (and BL only because it didn't start life as an AssCreed game) are rancid shit.

AC1 is little more than a tech demo.

There's no point in having the open world since there is absolutely nothing to do in it. You have 4 or 5 types of side missions, and I'm being generous referring to them as such, of which none are fun to play. The main missions allegedly give you freedom to complete them any way you want, but there's always a very obvious ideal parkour path that brings you near the enemy and lets you stab him from above with the hidden blade.

The combat is awful and the AI braindead, you can just stand surrounded by a dozen enemies and wait for them to come at you one at a time, allowing you to just spam counter to win every battle. You have a variety of tools at your disposal, yet they all boil down to the same.

A dev even went on record saying that the flag collectibles in the game only exist to waste people's time, you get nothing for collecting them.

By that point games like Hitman, Metal Gear, GTA 3/Vice City, DMC3 had been around for a long time. There's no excuse for the game being as shallow and devoid of content as it was.

The story is pure Jewish propaganda - barring a few exceptions the Muslims are portrayed as innocent victims of European/Christian brutality, while the Crusaders and Templars are shown to be completely amoral monsters that inflict pain and death upon civilians for fun.

Then there's the completely schizophrenic monologuing the villains give when you've killed them where they try to justify what they've been doing, despite the fact the game clearly shows you they're irredeemable monsters.

Altair is also a completely unlikeable cunt, as are all the other assassins. Ubisoft, being French faggots, mostly gloss over religion (during the fucking Crusades!), instead option of pushing the gay as fuck muh conspiracy angle, and even then failing by making the "everything is permitted" faction the good guys for whatever fucking reason. Good to know they're such strong supporters of libertarianism, I guess?

Sorry for the rant, but I struggle to understand how this shit franchise ever got as popular as it did. To this day I am mad Black Flag wasn't a standalone IP, instead getting AssCreed grafted on it like a malignant tumor.

you really love ship combat, goddamn
I like the ship combat in BL, yes. It's basically the most fun aspect of the game, since the rest of it is just the dogshit AssCreed combat and parkour.

Also, as Windrose shows, people have been salivating for a good open-world pirate game for years.

Ubisoft, in their typical fashion, fucked up badly by not making Black Flag a spiritual successor to Sid Meier's Pirates. They could have spun it off into its own successful IP, instead of reusing the ship combat in a few AssCreed games and then dropping it for good.
