Decided to update Ungoogled Chromium from v133 to v147 and now it doesn't want to open except in incognito mode, but if i do anything else besides view web pages, it crashes
  • go to settings, crash
  • manage bookmars, crash
  • check extensions, crash
Thank Christ for LibreWolf's bookmark importer, otherwise I'd be having a really shit day today, but still this shouldn't happen.

This is on a Win10 machine, by the way, they use third party binaries for their install, but I've never had an issue with them until just now. I even restarted the computer and uninstalled/reinstalled Chromium and that didn't do squat.

Update: Uninstalled it, waited a few days, then tried to gamble on the standalone .zip folder and that seemed to work. Making a mental note not to use the .exe installer and just update Ungoogled Chromium via zip instead. The cherry on top is that all my data is intact.

It probably saves per user data in the C:/users/yourname/appdata/ folder and leaves it unless you explicitly remove it.
 
How do I set up an AI programming agent locally?
How do I integrate it with VS Code or similar?
I tried following some tutorials but those look written by AI and dont work, oddly enogh.

I haven't quite got the agent setup fully locally.

I've setup Ollama locally on my Linux box. However Ollama will run on Mac, Windows absolutely fine.
I then used canirun.ai to find out what coding models work on my card. You then install those models using
ollama pull <coding model>
VSCode, Jetbrains IDEs can all be connected to Ollama. The instructions to setup VSCode with Ollama are here.
I don't use VSCode that much anymore so I can't speak to how well it works.
For a local agent. I've been looking at usin opencode. I could config it to use my local ollama models, but that is about as far as I got last weekend.

Thats a nice tool, although it is missing some cards it can be used as a ballpark measure.

VScode requires the pozzed copilot extension, which if I don't have any other choice I guss I'll use it. Re. Opencode, no fking idea.

I think the site is good to give you an idea of what will and won't work. I can't get even small models working on my work machine.
It has a 6GB nvidia card (forget the model). So I ended up running ollama on the network. Most of the time I am using claude, but full agent access uses loads of credits.

If I get my head around this opencode stuff I might write a full set of instuctions up.

Could be a ton of different things really. They run into various oddities at times. Really shouldn't update unless you have a problem, and this would be one of those reasons to update instead of updating into a problem. Given that's the case I'd check issues first with fallback to start decrementing versions until finding a working one.

Also their workarounds aren't usually that easy for most, so might rollback regardless. You won't get hacked. It's fine. I can tell you that for a fact I know v146 and v144 both work. I do however use marmaduke's fork unless needing the full googly gayness then I'll use hibbiki's fork to log in.

The bookmark file is literally a json file. Don't even need to use jq since it's stored as prettyprint aka human readable.

Base is usually
data\Default\Bookmarks
Maybe try
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Chromium\Data\Default\Bookmarks
Chrome uses
"%LOCALAPPDATA%\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Bookmarks"

Default could be Profile 1 if more users have been added
Type chrome://version into omnibar / address bar to check yourprofile path

Windows 10 will be updated until 2032. Always gets extended beyond like they just did with Exchange. To put into perspective updates for Windows 7 / Server 2008 didn't actually stop until three months ago, yet Vista / Server 2012 still have the rest of this year not including likely extensions.

I used OpenCode to build a small site over the weekend. It was a Linux package search UI. I was quite impressed. You get basically a free AI with opencode.

I used at work and it did a reasonable job of doing AWS + GO. I haven't hooked up a MCP for Jira yet.

Large enough to interfere with a device I cannot physically access on a different floor of a single family home. I'm thinking something that just blasts radio noise.

If you're a grown adult in a single family home and there's some 5G device you can't physically access that is affecting your life some way, at this point I assume it's a camera or something like that your parents or landlord set up and my unironic recommendation would be to just move.

Jamming devices like that one you're talking about are illegal these days anyhow. There are instructions for some floating around on the internet if you Google how to build a signal jammer, but if you are in the United States it violates FCC regulations and can result in a large fine if you get caught.

Tenant on the other floor, and breaking my lease is unfortunately too expensive. Would you happen to know exactly where those instructions are? Everything I've found is so old I'm not confident it would work on 5g signal
 
Hello again, tech bros. I was hoping some of you could recommend some "sport" ear buds to me, as mine are beginning to shit the bed and I use them almost everyday.
I currently use Sport Beats Pro [pic related].

My justification for having spent the ridiculous amount of money that I did on these is that they stay on/in my ears much better than regular ear buds and they're relatively comfortable. Most importantly, the sound quality is good (IMO). I wouldn't call myself an audiophile in the traditional sense because that's fucking gay, but I am one in the sense that I love music, especially stuff that is bass and drum heavy. I do have sensitive ears/hearing, so poor sound quality is something that would bother me way more than it should. I use them for music, podcasts, and youtube videos, all of which are played using my phone.
Some very strong preferences for recommendations:
  • Works with Android
  • Less than $100
  • Bluetooth & completely wirefree
  • Sound quality equal to or better than Sport Beats Pro, no trouble with bass/reverb
  • 8+ hour battery life
  • Relatively comfortable for long term wear
  • Sport buds, has "arms" that go over the ear and hold them in place
  • Reliable bluetooth connection
Brand name is extremely unimportant, sometimes the no-name knock offs are much better in quality than the name brand shit.
I realize I may be asking a lot here especially with the price range I'm requesting, so any and all recommendations are greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance :)

For those that gave me VPN recommendations back in March: I did go with Mullvad. Way more affordable, and works much better than nord ever did. So thank you to the techkiwis that recommended it!
