'No Stupid Questions' (NSQ) Internet & Technology Edition

you could try adding a non-steam game in your library and go to propertys to pick a proton version. i am not sure if this will work however since on cracked games it requires a loicense. other than that you can use WINE itself or Lutris.
You can do it with cracked games, I have done it on my steam deck many times but Im wondering if theres any way to properly integrate Proton into a Linux system without having to use steam

I use "whisperx" but it's pretty compute intensive, I use GPU.
You can read how it does on the MATI transcription archive at https://endconsentaccidents.net/mati/transmati/
Thank you, this is awesome. It got a lot correct, despite the awful accent and occasional wind noise.
  • some weird output ("E-T-P-S-E-N-P-R-O-F-B-O-S"),
  • some honest mistakes ("In Terry Pritchett's book God's Guards"),
  • some pure gold ("Now we'll get some salt in. I'll show you that. Sneeders. You actually hear it like this. Sneeders."),
nothing that can't be fixed on the fly. Utterly amazing, glory to the Machine God, the ice caps can melt for all I care if it means I never have to pause an audio file.
Sneeders.

In january I bought a a ryzen 7 5800xt and a rtx 5070 with 32gb ram is that a decent enough combo? I wanted to go with ddr5 but poorfag and in hindsight I could of gotten a better processor through intel but I was on a time crunch from the rising prices and was iffy about the whole intel CPU's burning themselves up thing so I shied away from intel. In hindsight that was probably a oopsie on my part

I only play vidya games on 1080p. I'm hoping this build will last me at least 2 or 3 years before needing to upgrade or is that being 🌈

Your build is similar to what I have, and it's decent enough. You should be fine on average, unless you're trying to run something insane like Star Citizen.

That's a good rig. I'm also in the same boat with the cpu/ram. 32gb of ddr5 costs the same as 9800x3d here.

What's the normie-level YouTube editing software? I downloaded Da Vinci Resolve (which is the free version), but I haven't used it yet. I'm mostly looking for editing video and audio clips together with some audio stuff like fixing pitch.

openshot, olive, kdenlive, shotcut on the top of my head.

if you want to cut shorts then use capcut but be aware they use your videos to train the ai.

YouTube is now requiring me to make an account to watch any video. Been digging around and it seems there's no way around this. Any ideas? I'm fuming right now.

edit: thank fuck, it resolved itself. No clue what happened or what I did to trigger it.

Is that a "lol, yes" or a "lol, no"?
The free version is actually very good and if you're doing simple youtube-style videos you probably won't have to advance from the Cut section to the more in-depth areas. If you're doing specific things with audio you just click on the "fairlight" tab, which is the audio editor, and mess around there. You'll figure out or google the basics but if all you want to do are simple tweaks then Cut/Edit should be enough. Then you will learn more and more and more and all of those things/concepts applies to pretty much every other video editor. So no matter what you are using you will learn something that can be used in whatever editor you settle on in the end.

OpenShot is hot garbage while Shotcut is... decent. Or was it the other way around? Don't remember.

One of them, Openshot or Shotcut, crashed all the time for me back in 2019-2020. I used one of them for a bit, because it worked, decent enough until I switched to Davinci Resolve and was perfectly satisfied. It should be noted, I have a Premier license but I still prefer Resolve for various reasons. You can also get Media Composer with limitations if you pretend to be a student, unless Avid changed registration.

Hello saars!

I bought a microSD card for my tablet (Galaxy Tab S10 FE, Android 16) because it was running out of space. I use it primarily for gacha gambling gaming and the games are huge. I thought that moving to SD card would free up space, but it only moves a bit of data and fully moving an app isn't possible due to Android AIDS (or so I read). Is there no way to free up space?

This used to be a thing on older Android. Idk why they don't allow this anymore. Kill billionaire kikes with a chainsaw

not really no, now it's all dependable on the app itself to allow to be moved to sd card and most apps nowadays shit themselves if they detect that you rooted your android too, still thanks for reminding me that i need to move a couple of dead games that are on my phone to a HDD for asset extraction and preservation.

there's a guy on craigslist selling five 8TB Samsung SATA SSDs for $1100, he said they're open box and ran tests on them for a few hours just to make sure they're not defective. right now those same SSDs are going on amazon for $1300 each. gud deal or wait for everything else in tech to crash with no survivors?
