As I've said before, the IRGC isn't popular but there's a bit of a gulf between "man the government sucks" and "burn it all down!"
They can print money. The effect dwindles and straightforwardly they will pay an exponential price for it, but I think people will accept the printed money for now.
It is hard to predict exactly when their credit will dwindle to the point they cannot pay people, with our limited information. It could already have begun, but I would not be certain.
Not just printing money, but (granted this reports from back in January and February and haven't seen things since) they are paying the Basij and IRGC rank-and-file with physical goods - Flour, eggs, oil, other staples as well as stuff like gas and kerosene. They aren't completely stupid, they know to make sure sure thier security is getting taken care of even if their paychecks aren't clearing or are becoming worthless.
This is why I suspect Trump's not actually going to do B&PD or any sort of strikes unless the IRGC decides to pop off first. It's a lot easier (and cheaper) to just choke off Iran's revenue stream and watch the regime flail around trying to keep their pets paid. We'll see how long they can hold it together, but things were already in bad shape before the war, and now they're going to have a hard time keeping their mercs and Basij paid, to say nothing of everyone else in the country.
Right now, Iran's being run under effective martial law by a military junta acting for the Gayatollah. We'll see if they can maintain that, and what the US response will be if they get desperate enough to try and go down swinging.

The counter point I'd make is by not continuing to hammer them, its giving Iran time to rebuild and possibly get some chinese Miltech smuggled in which will make things harder when strikes resume.

I'm taking small issue with them not calling it waste; if your operation is run appropriately you capture that methane/natural gas and process it non-explosively. HAving to flare it means something fucked up, or more accurate in the states, you don't want to have to go through the expense for the little bit of reward.
Under Trump 45, oil companies in north dakota were really pressing hard to increase the gas they were allowed to flare off due to the oil being high in methane (a consequence of geography and how deep fracking works which brings up a more 'confused' mass of oil and gas compared to when you are able to exploit big pockets)
Black smoke could just indicate a poor air fuel mixture or that you're not burning hot enough. I doubt they care much for the environment after all.
All of these are likely. I'd believe its just the collection tranks that filter out liquids not working properly due to lack of maintenance. I don't know if that's even a new thing. Iraqi refineries were not exactly up to EPA regs, I doubt Iran's are much better.
