I played the PC version religiously as a kid. This was far more worthy of an hour's watch than any nuTrek.

Poor David Lynch. It's my understanding that he wanted to be credited as "Alan Smithee" for that film, which is an industry signal for "the studio destroyed my movie."Another thing about Lexx is I must've seen it around the same time I read Dune for the first time, because I always default to picturing the guy with the absolutely ridiculous hairstyle whenever reading the parts with Duncan Idaho, especially when he's a Ghola.
He is in the Extended Cut that has a 10 minute intro explaining the history of the Dune universe. If he hadn't directed Dune there's a good chance he would have directed Return of the Jedi, he was on the short list of directors for it.Poor David Lynch. The super long Smithee cut is fun in its own waysPoor David Lynch. It's my understanding that he wanted to be credited as "Alan Smithee" for that film, which is an industry signal for "the studio destroyed my movie."
Lynch talked about ROTJ. George Lucas asked him to direct the film and Lynch liked Lucas (who was rolling out the red carpet for Lynch), but Lynch saw the Ewoks and shit and wanted to get out of it without hurting Lucas's feelings or causing a scandal of some kind. People are petty and shitty in Hollywood to the Nth degree, everything is fake. The problem is Lynch's agent was like "David, this is the last Star Wars film, you're going to make a bazillion dollars, I cannot in good conscience tell you anything but to do this film." So Lynch said "George, why don't you direct the film?"He is in the Extended Cut that has a 10 minute intro explaining the history of the Dune universe. The funniest part is knowing Lynch hates exposition, and the book is literally just pages and pages of lore. So the movie keeps stopping so some voice can be like, "This man is Doctor Yueh, he is a traitor, but also a very sad guy". You can feel Lynch smoking off camera in a depressed state. He is in the Extended Cut that has a 10 minute intro explaining the history of the Dune universe. My father always said David Lynch's Dune is so bad that you want Paul Atreides to lose. The funniest part is knowing Lynch hates exposition, and the book is literally just pages and pages of lore. The only decent Dune adaptation I've seen is the Sci-Fi Channel mini-series from around 2000. Dune was never meant to be anything more than a book.My father always said David Lynch's Dune is so bad that you want Paul Atreides to lose.
It's definitely one of those things you cannot easily adapt. It would require several movies or seasons to do it any justice without it being a lot of boring narration. The only decent Dune adaptation I've seen is the Sci-Fi Channel mini-series from around 2000. Ian McNeice is not cosmic horror fat, he’s like regular British guy fat.The only decent Dune adaptation I've seen is the Sci-Fi Channel mini-series from around 2000.

He's always gonna be Bert Large in my brain. Just this lovable scammer. Casting him as the Baron is like casting John Goodman.25 years later and it's still unsurpassed. This Harkonnen blows the others out of the water.

the point and click games were better in every wayThe NES game is an artifact from the before times. Extremely autistic and slow on purpose.

9-year-old AVGN felt scammed.

Honestly though, the game is cool. It's obviously very faithful and aimed at huge Trek nerds. I never actually finished it though. I kind of want to beat it just so I can have an actual opinion.
