Ukrainian Defensive War against the Russian Invasion - Mark IV: The Partitioning of Discussion

Problem with jet trainers like the L-39NG Skyfox is the relativepy small number of them built. Leading the problem of deciding what's more important, training pilots or using them as drone hunters. Until someone puts in the order(s) and pony up the cash for more trainers to be built, that will remain the problem.
You act like this is not literally what they're doing with the Yak-52, a trainer prop plane from the 1970s, which started this whole side discussion in the first place.

Certainly no going easy on Russian oil exports or supplies. Tuapse smoky again.

Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin has claimed that strikes on Russian energy facilities in Tuapse could lead to an environmental disaster.

Source: Russian media outlets citing Putin on 28 April

Quote: "Drones are increasingly striking civilian infrastructure. The latest example is the strikes on energy facilities in Tuapse, which could potentially have serious environmental consequences."

Details: Putin made the claim during a meeting on upcoming elections to the State Duma (the lower house of Russia's parliament) later this year.

He also claimed that Ukraine is attacking Russian energy facilities because it is not achieving success on the battlefield.

Background:

  • Ukraine's defence forces carried out the latest strike on the Tuapse oil refinery in Russia's Krasnodar Krai on the night of 27-28 April as part of efforts to undermine Moscow's military and economic capabilities.
  • The General Staff announced the results of Ukrainian strikes on oil refineries in the Russian cities of Tuapse and Yaroslavl, confirming the destruction of 24 storage tanks and damage to four others following a strike near the Tuapse oil refinery on 20 April.
  • On 16 April, long-range units from Ukraine's Special Operations Forces struck several facilities at an oil terminal in the Black Sea port of Tuapse.

Putin is worried about the environment.

If the map in the video is accurate, then this means Ukraine is able to repeatedly attack a critical energy production center and Russia is unable or unwilling to do a damn thing about it...mere MILES from that dumbass bridge Putin loves so much.

Truly, what does Putin even hope to accomplish at this point? He can't win this war and he's not stupid enough to try using the nukes. Is he just trying to hold on until he falls over dead to avoid the humiliation of admitting he torpedoed everything he spent decades working towards?

Norks unveiled a memorial for the troops killed in Kursk. 1144 is the number of people they put on the memorial.

I feel like this kind of thing would work equally well and be way cheaper with an estes motor.
I agree, but suspect it would go pretty fast, and require specialised targeting electronics - you’re getting into actual missile territory.

Right now Ukraine has abundant drone controllers and consumer computer vision chips for guidance, which works perfectly well at propeller driven speeds. Making yet another variant of drone is easy.

I think you’re right though, firework scale self guided anti-drone missiles can and should be the next development.

Do we know yet what was in it for the norks? Cash? combat experience? do we have the exact terms of whatever arrangement they had
Yes and Yes. North Korea has always known its at a supreme institutional disadvantage to the Americans by not having actual combat veterans in the ranks. Getting paid to get some of that combat experience was a nice bonus. It was a total shit show though, and the Norks are insisting their troops not participate in any more Russian meat waves.

It actually feels really tragic to me, even more than typical North Korea tragic shit.

Wanted to give a sticker, but I couldn't think of anything appropriate since there isn't one for "spit".
And Ziggers will STILL scream and cry that not a single Nork was involved in the war lol.

Oh and the Norks have a new display of captured Western gear to show off

It was recognized Russian territory of Kursk, so it's different (that's the argument, at least). Nevermind that Putin had to resort to this in the first place and how humiliating it is.

There's a rather large numerical difference between prop trainers and jet trainers. As older prop trainers were built in the hundreds to thousands. Jet trainers were and are built in the dozens to low hundreds.

The Norks at least remembered their men. Dead Russians are just forgotten, maybe buried. Given the hellish existence of the SMO contractors, it's verging on unclear that the Norks have a worse existence even if there is a suicide over capture policy.

Hungary's incoming Prime Minister Péter Magyar has hosted the mayor of the Ukrainian city of Berehove in Zakarpattia, where they discussed the situation of the Hungarian minority. Magyar has also proposed holding his first meeting with the Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zalanskyy in Berehove.

Peter Magyar proposes to meet Zelensky in Berehove to discuss the Hungarian minority in Transcarpathia. More likely will be accomplished. Hungarians in Ukraine were just a prop and pretext for Orbán excepting 'we wuz kangz' irrendentism, where if Ukraine had collapsed, he likely would've tried to grab that bit.

Won't do the Norks a lick of good to have outdated western tech. Morons literally sunk their own boat made of Russian mil-tech leftovers before the damn engines were even in it.

Right...and how many Yak-52s does Ukraine actually have?

The next Russian leader will have to have the mark of not being able to take out Ukraine. This would be as embarrassing to a zigger as some hypocritical situation where Korea ended up defeating Imperal Japan in WW2 in their eyes. They spent their lives telling themselves Ukrainians are their genetic inferiors. There will unironcally be mass suicides, especially when living in Russia will be as bleak as it was in the early 1990s while their neighbor that they hate so much gets Western aid and investment to rebuild and brought up to code with the rest of Central Europe. Add that with the fact the majority of people really scoff at the idea the USSR "saved" the rest of the the world from Nazi Germany or Russia is this big scary superpower that can end the world if provoked that Gen X and the earlier generations gave them credit for its a huge comeuppance they aren't ready for.

Best Korea does not have many friends these days (they have been on a downwards slide since the collapse of the USSR, not just recent events). China props it up because a) if the Kim regime falls, millions of malnourished, undereducated, brainwashed North Koreans will stream into China and there won't be anywhere to return them to (right now, refugees are sent back, even though that violates some international law I can't be bothered to Google right now) and 2) Best Korea acts as a handy buffer zone between China and Worst Korea, so there's no chance of having Americans on their back doorstep.

Cash and combat experience are both needed, but an ongoing relationship with the Russian Federation is helpful on a much deeper level.
It actually feels really tragic to me, even more than typical North Korea tragic shit.
It is, because these people are disposable resources. Best Korea has plenty of warm bodies who can (probably) shoot straight, and who'd need to be fed if they stayed at home, so why not send them away when Friend Putin needs fresh meat for the grinder? Frankly, Best Korea does not have much else to offer these days (apart from crypto hackers).

And given that they've been keeping the narrative of "we have always been at war with Oceania America" going for decades (there was an armistice but no actual peace treaty), a fresh influx of patriotic warmongering could be a much-needed jolt.

It makes a perverted kind of sense.
