Nobody is talking about salaries, we're talking about the lifetime of veterans benefits in all of its forms for millions of people. Those are not part of the defense budget. I don't understand where you got that idea from. That is 100% NOT included in the numbers.

That person is a moron if they think Iran is "activating a great power backstop" or that Russia is threatening to "insert itself into the deterrence" because Putin told Trump the region would become a shitshow if they start bombing again. First off Russia can't do shit militarily for Iran even if they wanted to. Right now their big concern is more trying to prevent their strategic naval and air assets from being shoa'd every other week deep in their homeland rather than trying to figure out how to defeat the US Navy the Arabian Sea. Something even the USSR would have been hard pressed to do. Second Russia knows this, and is not going to even subtly threaten something that they and we both know that are woefully incapable of. It projects weakness.

Whoever made that tweet is either a smoothbrain trying to use words they think make them sound smart, or just another thirdworldophile brictard.

Oil was more expensive for a large portion of the Obama admin than it is right now, futures are currently around $107.30 (highest they've been in a couple weeks, after a peak of about $119 in March) compared to an whole year average of $127.88 in 2013 after adjusting for inflation. 2010-2014 gas averaged $4.72 adjusted for inflation. If anything gas and oil were weirdly cheap before the war considering the inflation that has been raising the cost of just about everything else.
