Which may also have the knock-on effect of the US Army maybe demonstrating a hypersonic that actually can pull off the crazy feats this weapon type is supposed to do, mogging the Chinese and Russian types, and thus making both of them have to ramp up spending to keep up with the US again, Cold War style. There was no competitor to the F-35, nothing in the same class forgetting all the volume discounts and parts supplies with the rest of NATO.
The result of this was by June, Portugal quietly lifted the suspension and resumed the purchase process.

the reason why Personal Vehicles are excluded are, in short, unemployment checks. If someone had a nice beemer due to their management job, forcing them to discard it to qualify for unemployment checks and other programs like electrical bill reductions is kind of fucked up.

While its fucked up and infuriating to see niggers on SSI rolling around with $10,000 rims, the scale of the problem is actually very small - trying to legislate around a handful of nigger abusing the system is more trouble and expense than letting the grasshopper fiddle until winter when the checks stop coming.

I do agree however you need to look at % disability and how long - not all disability is permanent. I would be very suspicious of anyone claiming 100% on a sad brains disability.

I will also say... from a military liability stand point, there is a lot of "Max disability NOW, because its cheaper to let them claim too much disability and then reduce their percentage later than to give them too little disability now and get raped in court by a lawyer making the jury feel punative."
My friend had hearing issues and a foot injury provably linked to his time in. That was worth a 30% disability and letting him exit with a honorable not a medical. Later the army medical establishment said (effectively) "its been long enough, your hearing damage is permanent and our fault but your foot should have healed by now, disability reduced to 10% for the hearing", necessitating him getting his doctor to show that the bones had healed but there was something still fucked in his foot, so he started to fight and the army agreed to settle for an extra 10% disability and his foot still being the VA's problem.

There is nothing wrong with raging at parasites abusing the system you also need to consider the scale of the problem.
Or I guess: Again, any abuse by societial parasites is wrong and there really needs to be a disability audit because I know some GWOT people who never deployed but managed to malinger themselves some VA stimmy checks, but I'mma want to see some recipts on these people getting permanent 100% out of basic for sad brains.

The explosion in service-related disability benefits to veterans is real and it's spectacular. It can be argued that historically the US has generally shortchanged its veterans and it was a good thing to break with that history, but it's over $150 billion a year now being distributed through the VA on these disability gibs. Which is a large number any way you look at it. $152 billion is about 3-4% the size of FY2025 Social Security + Medicare + Medicaid spending, so it's a pretty large drop in the comparison bucket

But even before that, global terror was on the wane and people were getting tired of it. 9/11 and the fear-of-god instilled by "yes we will actually invade your fucking ass if you play fuckfuck games" just brought it to a swifter conclusion.

But the GWOT brought us the scares of the mid-aughts when it looked like everything might go into the opposite direction, but right now.... the Taliban in Afghanistan are content to manage their own affairs and avoid foreign terror entanglements, the Former Al Queda guy running syria is likewise focusing on minding his own shop, and neither is going on ethnic cleansing sprees despite the very real possibility. So for right now, it seems to have been a good thing.

All current and near future competitors to the F-35 have American parts, especially the turbine engines, and software.
