RIP Thread

Modern country suck ass, pretty much all the good country artists are gone. Cash, Waylon, Paycheck, Williams, Kristofferson etc and now DAC to the ever expanding list. Outlaw Country is long gone. Hopefully Willie Nelson keeps living for a long time

Hank III does some good stuff when he's chanelling his grandfather. I know its 20 years old now, but Straight to Hell is a pretty killer album IMO.

I need to remember where my copy is so I can listen to Country Heroes in honor of Coe. This hits almost as hard as Charlie Daniels going. Uneasy Rider '88 is the finest song ever created.

DAC certainly had his moments as a lyricist, but his real talent was in songwriting. He was a disciple of Hank Williams and would have kept it that pure and simple, but the industry had moved on, and he found a couple of extra dollars in catering to it. Some of those songs he sold to other folks, some of them he kept for himself, some of them were both. But he was at his best when he was just straight-up DAC.

Hank III is one of the greats I think. Not too often you can come across an artist who can belt out a beautiful country ballad in a voice that rivals Dale Gribble, but can turn around and throw some hard punk thrash in your face in the same breath.
Country Heroes is a masterpiece.

You mean the Alex Zanardi who got his legs chopped off in a horrific racing crash and came back and was still somewhat successful.
Indeed. Greatest in the peak CART era and didn't let anything stop him. Really cool guy if you met him too.

And after he was out winning in cars with hand controls he became a very successful hand cycle racer, which unfortunately is how he got taken out in the end.

Did he pass due to complications from that? The web seems to be lacking info on that.

Much like Schumacher the family has been very quiet about what's been going on since the accident. Also similarly it's believed that he had limited or no consciousness since. So it's almost certain to be related, but it's really unknown.
