General Wrestling Discussion

God CM Punk loves jerking himself off by aping his own and other people's matches, doesn't he?
By the way, if anyone is interested, Kairi Sane and Kabuki Warriors merch is marked down from $36 dollars to $9 dollars on WWE's website. Got me and my stepmom some swag since we're both Joshi marks.

15% of the population of the United States watched the Main Event where Hogan wrestled Andre in 1988. 15%. Those NBC specials were pulling the same kinds of ratings as Cheers, The Cosby Show and The A-Team. Hogan is always going to be associated with the 1980s the way Mt. T, Ghostbusters, He-Man or Alf are. Look, I Googled 1980s and these came up:

To act like any other wrestler in the United States came that close to the cultural zeitgeist is blisteringly retarded.

"B-b-but El Santo was bigger in Mexico." Yeah, but nobody in the US knows who the fuck El Santo is outside a handful of smarks. Hogan was huge across the US and Canada while not being as popular but still well known across the rest English speaking world and Japan. Honest to god the whole argument is stupid and the people who try to make it are stupid fucking autistic faggots.
Hogan was also very popular in Japan. This makes Meltzer's argument null and void.

I don't care what you guys say, I love that little nigga Darby. I decided to watch AEW for the first time in about a year just to see him win the title. He's like the new Jeff Hardy or Mick Foley, just a great car crash underdog, and they way he won was perfect, returning a low blow and hitting MJF with multiple finishers. Plus, having Sting give him a peptalk to make the mentor thing with him go full circle was awesome.

This has been said ad nauseum but Darby has a Jeff Hardy appeal to him. With the risk of sounding fruity and pretentious, he's an art guy and wrestling is an extension of that. He has a distinct style, look and aesthetic for who his character is - similar to Jeff. Also like Jeff, he's not a talker, but he's smart enough to work around it with his style and cinematic stuff. My biggest peeve personally is his attire. It's hard to cheer for a dude wearing pantyhose like a gang member from a Troma movie. Someone steering some of his choices would benefit him, if he's willing to listen.

Do you think Nick Dinsmore would have had a longer run as Eugene if he had screamed JULAAAY!! at the top of his lungs when he put someone in an Ankle Lock?

Can (You) crust Chris Jericho?

Who were the ninjas that kidnapped Smo'ra Joe?

"Ohhh, I get it. See, he's the revolution because he used to wrestle for AEW and they had a pay per view called Revolution, so it's a silly reference to AEW, yeah. And he's in the ring with Cody Rhodes, so it's another silly reference to AEW. Oh hey, Cody just made a reference to them both being in AEW. Yeah, we get it, you were in AEW together."

A bit of help requested here; when it broke about Jim Cornette's apparent cuckold status, there was some absolutely hilarous meme pictures that were basically Jim justifying his cuckoldry as if cutting a worked promo, and I can't find them. Anyone familiar with these and have them?

The only bits I remember were "Back in my day, you could easily watch a guy like David Schultz, Big John Studd or even Jim Duggan give your old lady a dicking you'd both never forget..."

Today is Steiner Math Day.
Obligatory then

Rebel from AEW (Britt Baker’s assistant) was just diagnosed with terminal ALS on top of already battling lung cancer. She’s been away for four years so I was wondering why she was gone for so long. Sadly, it doesn’t look like she has much longer to live.

Source: my ass, but that could also explain why Britt hasn't been back. And for all the shit I say about Tony, I can admire his support for his workers.

This hits me hard, I liked Rebel since TNA,

Got ninja'd but there are more releases/non-renewals in WWE.
Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods "mutually parted ways" with WWE. Either their contracts expired or WWE agreed to let them go.
Tonga Loa and JC Mateo/Jeff Cobb were released.

WWE really is killing off its tag team division. At the very least they have to unify the two titles because they only have like 5 teams in total across both brands right now.
