Marathon 2025 - Bungie's new AAAA Extraction shooter

Jesus Christ.

Marathon is like the comatose braindead child of Bungie and Sony of which they refuse to pull the plug because they claim they heard it speak just moments ago (they have claimed this every day since day one of the coma) even though the hospital bill keeps going up and negative advice of the doctors, they refuse to accept it is dead.

The few shills are the people who keep feeding into Bungie and Sony's delusion that they also totally heard it speak just now again.

Meanwhile Marathon in reality:

The game is currently entering into a nerf spiral.

They've nerfed the double barrel shotgun (the only shot gun you can reliably aquire from raid to raid) into being absolutely useless. This was the counter to Melee, and then Melee became unstoppable. They then nerfed Melee into the dirt.

The meta shifted towards being entirely a ranged game. There is no point in pushing and closing the gap if you are just going to eat lead and die. Ranged combat is not nearly as deadly as it is in Tarkov, if you start to die you can just dip into cover and heal back to full in a few seconds. The way to counter this is through grenades. Grenade spam is now the current meta, people now just fill their back packs with grenades. Bungie is currently looking to nerf Grenades into the dirt.

Once you can no longer kill people with a combination of grenades and automatic fire, I'm pretty sure the next meta is going to be Rail guns and sniper rifles. Weapons that can Down players or dispatch them in a couple of shots.

In an attempt to appease casuals they are running off the people who actually want to play this game for it's pvp.

I have since switched to only playing the Free kit mode because players have less time to react to gun fire, making grenades not a necessity, and also makes melee viable again.

S2 looking grim.

I would unironically like to thank you for these updates on how the game itself is going.

reminds me of the introduction of Stasis in Destiny 2.

at launch everything was busted in pvp, especially Titans and Hunters, Hunter's Shatterdive was, by far, the most powerful non-ult ability ever put into Destiny, you could wipe an entire team around a corner.

I was a Warlock, our little Ice Hadoken was very strong, it froze for way more time than needed to kill the frozen fucker, by the end of the nerfing of these abilities, you couldn't even begin firing your gun before they were out of the freeze, they are notorious Nerfers of their own content, and some shit they nerf and nerf and nerf despite no one using them because they are so impossible to actual use.

Handheld Supernova for Warlocks was a VERY short range ability that you had to charge and let go after about a second, so timing was key, it would shotgun blast forward and kill people outside of Resilience 10 (unless they were right fucking kissing your model in which they were just dead anyways)

They have nerfed this ability so many countless times that it now does LESS THAN A MELEE ATTACK and also damages YOU more than Melee attack!

I was going to joke compare it to TF2, but that game has 50k people playing.
Last i played that game was botted to fuck, 3rd worlders trying to buy dinner through hats. That was years ago though, not sure what it's like now.

hey are notorious Nerfers of their own content
Blizzard is the same way, they don't nerf by like 10% its often 150%. How they can say something is totally fine and then in retrospect it needs a 100% nerf is beyond me. How they arrive at these numbers is baffling.
