Western Animation - Discuss American, Canadian, and European cartoons here (or just bitch about wokeshit, I guess)

Not animation because AstroCity's only a comic(and may it stay that way), but I've been rereading it and GOD DAMN look at that art

I'd like to gush about the Confessor and Astrocity's art some more. He just looks so good, cross between Spawn and Batman at their finest, the shining cross, his glowing eyes, even his text bubbles look great.
Just looking at it makes me want to pick up a pencil again.

Fuck it, we ballin, Shrek 5’s original plot just got more details leaked:

Is it surprising the film went from being released this summer to next year? Apparently lots of animation work has already been done and they are pivoting midway through production - seemingly getting rid of the real world element, which graciously was fully animated even if labeled as “real world.”

Also, Universal Ride isn’t cannon now I guess since how did Farquaad’s ghost terrorize them if he isn’t dead?

Shrek 5 should just take the tropes Disney uses over and over nowadays and mock the hell out of them like the first one did. The cookie cutter "adorkable" female protagonist, the hatred of love interests, the generational trauma, the awful villains. There's plenty of new cliches to work with, it would take the franchise back to its roots, and Disney's reputation hasn't exactly improved since then it's not like they would tick people off.

Unfortunately that would have to be written by someone with life in their eyes, so it'd never happen.

Another Cartoon Cartoon pilot dropped.
Also, whoever was in charge of the thumbnail really needed to think twice about the screenshot they used.

Are there any up coming cartoons that actually have a nice art style? And whose humour evolves past 'exaggerated motion for the sake of exaggerated motion'?

Also, does it count as a meta joke that all the signs of her friend being possessed is the same shit she and every other character do because they all act in the same ping-pong-ball of personality manner?

What is even the point of sending Shrek to the real world? Like, it's already a tired and boring plot trope to begin with, but you don't even have the fish-out-of-water or culture shock element that said trope revolves around. The joke of Shrek's setting is that it's basically the real world but translated through Fairy Tale aesthetics, turning cable television into a magic mirror or cars into magic carriages.

Is it because the original version was going to include some sort of Trump stand-in as the movie's actual antagonist, but Dreamworks has to drop that plot?

Oh hai bootleg Luz from the Owl House.
So racist to assume that all teenage girls with an interest in the occult look the same.

At the very least, the humor has better timing and buildup than IScream. Not saying it's good, but still.

Just imagine if the final product just makes Farquaad's son the Trump stand-in who wants to Make Far Far Away Great Again (MFFAGA).
