As announce during some faggy Dota2 thing, Valve is working on a new game, for release in 2018.

It is called Artifact, and is a Dota 2 themed card game, much like everything else that has a card game nowdays.

As you can see from the video in the tweet, the audience loses their fucking minds with hype.

hi this is gabe newell, welcome to defense of the half dead portal fortress 2 episode 3: blue opposing strike coast: source: deathmatch: crossing stars of prospero after 1e+64 years in development, hopefully it was worth the weight

Collectable card games are already really lame, collectable card video games that don't even use real cards are quite possibly the stupidest thing ever.

Valve makes a digital collectible card game.

Does ANYONE trust them to not fuck up the booster packs?

Card games are for completely, utterly gay people. And not even in the good sense of good people who just happen to have sex with people of the same sex kind of gay people.

Just terrible, bad, utterly gay people.

Is there seriously a market for this shit?
Hearthstone is pretty popular.

Unfortunately Valve is a little slow to the draw with this sort of thing. Online card games were all the rage a few years ago. (Even Notch made one called Scrolls) but now the fanbases for these games have mostly consolidated to Hearthstone.

Yeah, this'll be the biggest hurdle this game has to face, and it's likely it'll end up like Heroes of the Storm did in comparison to LoL and DotA.

The people who already play Hearthstone won't jump ship because staying competitive is expensive as fuck, and because it's as expensive as it is, new people are unlikely to give it enough of a try to be profitable in Valve's eyes.
