Unfortunately, the nature of Assassin's Creed games kind of limits the setting quite a lot. The game's mechanics require that there be at least some lateral terrain, usually buildings, for which the protagonist can climb upon and then leap into a small pile of hay. Sure, they've fudged it once or twice by having some naval combat to distract from the lack of towering buildings and monuments, but you can only do so much with that.

Personally, I just kind of hope they get out of the western world a bit and go to China or Japan before they start going further into the future.

An official re-release by Nintendo is unlikely. For a number of reasons. The biggest being how the Mother series never really took off in terms of sales. Earthbound is the best example of this considering how it's now among the rarest SNES games.

The other big reason is how Earthbound is a niche jrpg series, and Nintendo is losing money right now due to the lack of the success of the Wii U. They're pushing for their big blockbuster releases right now like Mario and Zelda.

I mean never say never, these sort of games are uber popular on the 3DS and Nintendo knows that. But I see Majora's Mask getting a re-release as more likely than Mother 3.

There is the unofficial translation, which from what I've heard was pretty good. So that might be worth looking into instead of waiting for Nintendo to put one out.

A translated Mother 3 would sell in this day. This isn't 1995 where internet still wasn't quite mainstreamed.

Mother 3 just has a lot of trouble making it past the political "correctness" norm. The Magypsy characters, as wonderful as they are, just wouldn't make it past the censors.

Yeah, the series has been way too eurocentric considering what they could do. Though I was very impressed with 3 for making native americans central, rather than the expected "rah rah America ftw".

I liked the Sony press even the most mainly because it had so many games in it that I actually wanna play.
MGS5 looks badass, No Man's Sky blew me away because I've wanted a game where you can fly between planets in real time ever since Wing Commander on the PC. Mortal Kombat X practically won E3 all together. LBP3 looks fun, here's hoping for more CWC creations in the future to play with.

The only thing that really caught my eye at the Microsoft event was the Halo collection, Sunset Overdrive, and some Suda 51 game.

Nintendo did pretty good, I liked the new Splatoon and Hyrule Warriors game.
 
I think Sunset Overdrive looks pretty good. Just seeing the trailer almost sold me on it. Unfortunately, it's an Xbone exclusive. You'd think that by it being published by Microsoft, it'd at least get a PC port, but surprisingly Microsoft doesn't care about their insanely popular other platform and instead try to push a console that nobody really likes.

Sunset Overdrive isn't enough for me to want to get an Xbone, and none of the other exclusives are really grabbing me. I mean, with Dead Rising 3 coming to PC, the only other reason I'd ever want an Xbox One is now null and void.
 
So after the dust has settled I'd say it was a fairly solid, but somewhat unspectacular E3. Nobody made any real clangers, but no bombs were dropped either and I guess that's to be expected in this era of multi year gestation games.

Personal highlights
  • Splatoon. Genuinely charming and original, and looks an absolute riot. Sadly I fear it will die in obscurity on the WiiU.
  • Phantom Dust. I've never played the original, but I'm well aware of it's cult status, so well done to Microsoft for wheeling this out, especially after last years "tv, tv, sports, sports" idiocy.
  • Farcry 4. I'd normally not put down a sequel, but I thoroughly enjoyed Farcry 3, so as long as they build on it's strengths they should be golden. Plus, Troy Baker as the villain!
Oh, and LittleBigPlanet 3 may kick of the Ps4 saga.

Actually Earthbound is one of the most download title on the Wii U virtual console. The only reason why Earthbound never took off on the SNES was because of a shitty marketing campaign and Nintendo mindset at the time that RPG doesn't sell. Given the chance, Earthbound/Mother could be a good series for Nintendo.

Boy, remember when next-gen was revolutionary new technology that was for more than GWAFICS GWAFICS GWAFICS?

It seen like almost every single major game is coming out for both the 8th and 7th gen system. The only one that I can think of that isn't, is the new Batman game. Why fork over $400 for a new system when you can get the same games for your current or cheaper system.
 
We've gotten to the point of diminishing returns now when it come to graphics tech, for the most part there really isn't anything that adding more processing power allows us to do that couldn't really be done before. I predict we'll see a lot more open world stuff with more underlying systems working simultaneously.
Really, if anythings going to change things up, it'll be vr, because despite the fact it was first tried in the early 90's, we've only just gotten to the point where we can do it in an acceptable way.

The thing is, it's not about graphics anymore, not really. Because the jump in graphical power from 7th to 8th is way less impressive than 6th to 7th was. Like Anchuent Christory says, things might actually look impressive when they find a way to take true advantage of the console's ability to process more and complex things at once, but for now all they care about...

Okay, I'll amend my first sentence. All they do care about is graphics. They just don't seem to realize that they're not actually showing anything.
