The funny thing is if Cosmo did just walk out of the store nothing would have happened. It's likely that nobody would have noticed or thought anything of it. Most employees aren't paid enough to pay attention and I've had friends see people blatantly steal something and not care, not to mention the security cameras are more for watching the staff than they are the customers. Most places also budget for customers to steal items because it's not worth the hassle.

Had Cosmo not made a big deal about it and just like walked out of the store with the bottle or opened the bottle and threw enough pills in his pocket/bag to last until he could actually purchase the bottle, he would have been fine. But of course he needed to make a huge scene and get as much attention as possible.

They found it had an above average amount of heavy metals like cadmium and shit in it from the Chinese rice, but not high enough concentration to cause health problems or violate food safety laws.

I used to work at a Walgreens and that shit was an everyday occurrence. Place wasn't in the best of neighborhoods and we'd get all sorts of junkies and degenerates. One of the worst things I ever saw was some dumb white trash burn out with a new born put back a can of baby formula because she didn't have enough money for her cigarettes, beer, and the formula.
