Why does Tumblr have an obsession with vitiligo?

  • Suicide Girl model and America's Next Top Model contestant have it, spread on Tumblr, that's why.

That's still the funniest shit to me (her name) I'm surprised that none of her fans have called her out. Actually I'm still surprised she has fans because I feel like her art is at a constant stagnation.

I can't tell whether you're talking about Tearzah or the person who drew the character with vitiligo, because either way it works (except there have been some callouts for Tearzah for fetishizing abuse and sex work to an audience of minors).
Either way, you could show me 10 different characters designed/drawn by these people and I'd think they're all the same one because they all look so similar.

Undertale you say..?

Then there is this version

This dug up something from deep inside the recesses of my memory. Back when I was more active on Tumblr, I used to see tons of humanized Undertale art, particularly the skeletons, and 99% of the time, they looked like they belonged in a political cartoon or the background of a Fat Albert episode. Almost always racist black caricatures.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to shove that back into the depths of my brain and forget about it again.

Isn't her excuse shes a victim of abuse? Sounds like her own little safety blanket.

Tumblr's version of JJBA is a fucking goldmine.

I'm a bit late with this one, but what the hey, I'll reply anyway.

I actually don't think the first one is all that bad--Avdol canonically Arab (presumably also Muslim, given his name?), and I can see a genderbent version wearing hijab. And s/he still looks like Avdol.

The others, though... why is half the Jonathan fan art of him as an obese Mexican instead of a bulky Englishman? For that matter, when fan artists try to "PoC"-ify Giorno... Do they just forget that he's already half Japanese, or nah, because Asian ain't Pee o' Sea enough unless they look like racist WWII propaganda?

i really love it when they draw gay/trans characters wearing clothes with their little pride flag on it just so you know they're gay, just in case you couldn't tell from the bitchy passive-aggressive captions they make all time like "He's gay it's canon sorry i don't make the rules UwU". Hell, I know I won't be caught leaving my house without my bisexual flag bodysuit and matching light-up sneakers.

splatoon miiverse is a mistake
It's sad because sometimes legitimately funny stuff is posted on there, which normally makes it fun to walk about the little hub area.
This stupid trend just makes me go directly to the multiplayer building. It's not funny, just incredibly eye-roll worthy.
Also, I'm pretty sure squids can't be trans. ...Then again, they normally can't transform into chimera children either.

Yeah... it doesn't work when all of your OCs happen to be very manipulative and/or flat out abusive in some way. It's not a healthy way of coping with your abuse, especially when you have such a wide audience.

I actually did a "character study" using Tearzah's OCs - I gathered all the ones with black hair and pale skin (fur in the case of one) - otherwise, it was fair game - and put them into an image.

Hm. For someone with a "diverse" set of characters, who gets a lot of praise for their designs, too many of them look similar to each other and it can become genuinely confusing - especially trying to figure out which of them are actually related.
Even for the ones with nonhuman features, it just... feels like they were kind of slapped on in an attempt to make them look somewhat different. If you made all of them sihlouettes, the only thing you could do to recognize these characters is check their hairstyles - and even then, a lot of them have similar hairstyles.
Keep in mind, only a portion of these characters are/were human, and not all of them are actually white.

Other than the possibly the story lore, these are all very easy to make ripoffs or clones of. That's kind of sad.

Animu is the same

Besides that, it's not good art if everyone looks the same. The ENTIRE point of people giving others these tips is so that they DON'T end up with this problem. Her technical skill's cool but she doesn't have much more than that. at all.

This Zarya is legitimately horrifying.

Trans Captain Underpants. Pretty sure I'm on a watch list now.
You'd think that a character whose defining trait is that he wears nothing but men's undergarments (without a binder) would be pretty noticeably cis...
