60k is better than minimum wage, but it's not exactly high roller kind of money. Especially considering the part of the country he lives in. Making that much money in the rural Midwest would go a lot further than splitting it between two mortgages in two more expensive parts of the US.

He's either over hyping his financial troubles, in which case he's a slimy shyster, or he's seriously sinking as fast as he claims, in which case he's an absolute fool for spending money on the things he does and is piss poor at running a business. Either way it reflects very poorly on him.

Personally, I think he seems stressed enough that I believe his money woes are real. He seems like more of a lucky idiot than a clever charlatan. But I think his health is going to give out before his money does. His lifestyle is getting worse, isolation does terrible things to a person, and stress and anger wear a body out physically faster than most people would believe.

The fact that he lives alone is actually kind of dangerous for him, all things considered. Except he spends so much of his life live streaming on the internet, getting angrier and angrier at the games he's playing... there's actually a good chance everyone is going to wind up watching DSP die from a heart attack on camera.

It's super depressing really, but if it ends up shaking out that way, it's also kind of a poetic finale to his legacy.

It would also be ironic if the fact that he has a few hundred detractors tuning in just to watch him fail ends up saving his life when they call paramedics for him.

No seriously, 60k is fucking fantastic in the Midwest. We have a lot of people who moved in from the coast for that very reason. I don't know what rent tends to be elsewhere, but in one of the smaller cities around here, I paid $500/month for a two bedroom apartment. And I did it for all the same stuff Phil wants to do. So, I could have an office, and some living space. The only thing I hated about it was no room to entertain guests. But, ha.

It's really hard to get a good idea of what sort of trouble he's in with such a muddy picture of his debt-to-income ratio. You can be sinking at any nearly any income level. Lord knows what sort of credit backlog he could be hiding. One thing to note, though, is that DSP lives in/near Seattle, correct? If that's true, 60k is barely survivable (assuming you live independently and want property) even if you're smart. Considering he actually owns property there and elsewhere, it's mind-boggling he's managed this long to survive at that level.

Also, random side-note back to our conversation about fighting games yesterday: found this gem today. Life rarely confirms suspicions and conjecture in such a timely manner. Thanks, Soma Julius Cruz.

Oh yeah, that reminds me, the whole reason I wanted to make an account. Going back to DSP playing Super Turbo. That's been my favorite thing in the whole wide world, ever since discovering him. Because, he's right about like Match Ups and "that doesn't work dood" For anyone who's not aware, SF2ST is a very meta game. And it's aaaaalll about knowing the exact match-up because it's all a big numbers game. What's safe, and so on and so forth.

But the jackass, who won a tournament on learning a port that changed this all slightly. Which for the record, completely shakes up the meta. Like there was a clip where one of Honda's moves had iframes on a fireball and the commentators were astonished, like that's how much a subtle change can shake up a game. Because hey, now Honda has an edge on shotos, and this means that shotos could see less play if Hondas become big and then it all becomes a mess. He is playing this game like it's ST, and refusing to believe he's wrong. Like, it's DSP in a nutshell. It's just magical.

Huge info bomb.

Someone I know just received his leanna soap he bought on August 18th. Seems like the address it was mailed from was Phil's townhome?

Thoughts?

I had purchased some wax tarts and a bar of soap several months ago when they were still together, and when it arrived it also had that same return address.
My guess is Leanna doesn't want to give away where she's really living, so she is still using Phil's Patreon palace on the label...even though she runs the risk of having to communicate with him in order to recover her product in the case of a return or incorrect destination address.

Some people on twitter speculate that PHIL is selling her leftover soap for extra $$$

Found an interesting bot on Twitter which I haven't seen mentioned here. It posts using #thesnortreport.

If I was correct in adding up August's figures then that means he has made something like $2150 so far in August. Averaging his income this month that means he will make a further $720 (total being $2870).

Twitch subs bring in $618 so far this month. Averaging this means $164.8 additional. This brings total to $783.56

$2870 (twitch bits) + $783.56 (twitch subs) + $920 (patreon) + $400 (I'm using a guess for YouTube).
$4973 monthly
$59676 yearly

Now I can't tell how accurate #thesnortreport is, but this is interesting information.

Whoever made this twitter bot and this (https://takeiteasy.github.io/darksydephil/) you are a fantastic person. I hope that they're one of those Google engineers with no street smarts.

he makes a lot more than 400$ on youtube. i remember he said kogaming only makes him a few hundered $ so it`s not worth his time to make videos.
his main channel makes between 1000$-5000$ depending on the time of the year and the adds.

I'm still shocked that she wants to continue to make her soap.
It's not like you earn much and there is no way she will make any profit or live passively off that in any way shape or form.

Passion doesn't pay your bills, kids.

And yet he still has to get up every day, look in the mirror, and realize he's Phil Burnell.

There's not enough money in the world to make me jealous of someone with so much loneliness misery and anger in their heart.

I can't find any of these links having been posted here before.

Allow me to quote EddyB43Cynic here - he was mentioned and he told me to post his thoughts about it:

„First problem: Subs. His numbers seem a little off, but at least the subscriber logs added on overrustle are fairly accurate. The REAL problem is how much he thinks they're worth: that all subs give DSP $4.99. Wrong for 2 reasons:
1) For a Prime or $4.99 sub, the channel owner gets 'half': $2.50, and on the paid sub Twitch gets $2.49.
2) In late April 2017 Twitch added the $9.99 & $24.99 sub tiers. DSP fortunately tweeted confirming the share is 60/40 for $9.99 & 70/30 for $24.99 - so ~$6 for a $9.99 sub & $17.50 for a $24.99 sub.

DSP's tweet: https://twitter.com/TheyCallMeDSP/status/857091889224462336
drgnkiller's cap of the tweet: https://twitter.com/Drgnkiller/status/857096364727128064

So generally you can halve his subs dollar amount to get close. Right now by my calculations DSP's pulled in $316 in subs during August.

His cheer amounts used to be way off, some of the numbers were ten+ times higher like one of BSV's names showing $10K+ - this fortunately seems fixed. I'll link my latest summary tweet for July, but he's peaked at around $2000 cheered in a month (except for this month which will be a new massive record) but always over $1000 cheered since he became a 'full time streamer' back in March when Machinima dropped him.
My July summary tweet with the chatlogs & text files documenting all the cheers/subs: https://twitter.com/EddyB43Cynic/status/892442375083216896

The real problem with tracking cheers via a plain chat log like Overrustle is you can get cheer messages which don't count. Raw logs have portions showing the various Twitch badges (e.g. bits/1000 meaning a 1K bit badge) as well as a useful "bits=###" portion confirming a message was a cheer worth ### bits. Overrustle's logs & normal logs from a client like Chatty don't seem to save this.
So someone might say 'cheer100 Fuck DSP' when logged in as a Twitch user... they don't have the bits, the message goes through, shows in logs but didn't count. Raw logs won't show a "bits=100" portion so I know it didn't happen.
I didn't have this info for the end of November & all of December 2016 logs, so those are likely off.

You also have to trust that you know all the cheering emotes. Back in late May Twitch announced a few new ones like PJSalt , MrDestructoid, NotLikeThis etc. Also in early August I spotted a new "bday" one, a cupcake. I don't know if he knows to search for these.

What I will say is DSP's on for a record this month: just through August 23rd, he's up to $316 in subs (nothing special) & almost $2300 in cheers! This has been thanks to a couple huge cheer wars like that $450+ Danganronpa 2 prestream on August 4th, BSV cheering well over $350 on August 15th (to a new personal record in a month of over $750) & a couple newer big cheerers like KingJezal cheering over $400 in 2 cheer wars.

I can't really track Twitch tips for a few reasons:
1) They don't show up in chat logs
2) They only appear as on screen notifications at $2+
3) For sub $2 tips you'd have to trust what DSP says, assuming he even gives a shoutout. 4) There's no way to see tips done when DSP's not streaming. Who knows what random fans are tipping DSP to 'help out' but they don't want recognition.

However I have tracked a few streams worth of tips this month, particularly since he started pushing for tips over cheers/subs again & pushing Patreon so hard. I can confirm $347 in visible $2+ tips from just 7 days this month & I wouldn't be surprised if he's over $500 in tips already. With ~$316 in subs & almost $2300 in cheers, that'd put him over $3000 already, money he will receive in ~45 days, 2 months at most.
July's 'Rockstar' false copyright strikes emergency pulled in over $1000 in tips in 2 days, mostly $800 in big tips during the late prestream a couple hours after they hit. So somehow that $400 CT sewer bill got him overdrawn even AFTER that, madness or a lie.
July 7th's almost $900: https://twitter.com/EddyB43Cynic/status/883737507107667971
July 8th's extra $100+: https://twitter.com/EddyB43Cynic/status/884102674509168640

His comment ends here.

And about the soap. If someone asks about it on Twitch, it may get a reaction. Maybe.

Every time this shit happens they either reached out to him, felt sorry for him, saw how bad his haters were or some other story where he gets to be the victim who people just want to help. Truth could be he knows admitting he went running to Twitch before they kicked his ass off makes him look desperate to maintain his low mobility extreme indoor lifestyle.

I'm probably going to bored enough to transcribe ask the king if anyone is interested (im very bored right now and will probably do it anyways,) and less than 10 minutes into the stream he is begging for tips (if anyone wants to pull the vod and do their thing, as always)
