Damn! I'll have to remember that if ever I come across someone doing that.If you try to put out a chip pan fire with water, the water, which is denser than oil, sinks to the bottom of the pot and boils instantly, vaporizing and rising out of the pan, simultaneously lifting the burning oil out of the pot and causing the oil that's not on fire to combust, forming a massive growing fireball that will engulf your entire kitchen.
