Maybe that's because they had a giant civil war which literally consisted of anti-fascists fighting fascists the last time that Spain was in the shitter.
That's right, and witnessing the excess and brutality of the Spanish ANTIFA firsthand was cited specifically as a tipping point by George Orwell:
George Orwell said:
The Spanish war and other events in 1936-37 turned the scale and thereafter I knew where I stood. Every line of serious work that I have written since 1936 has been written, directly or indirectly, against totalitarianism and for democratic socialism, as I understand it.
1984 was literally inspired by ANTIFA.
Speaking of newspeak, the verbose language ANTIFA still insists on using was actually exploited as a weakness by Goebbels during the Nazi rise.
On which note, the most direct refutation of this revisionism ANTIFA still insists on can probably be found in how they were treated after the war, using the Roter Frontkämpferbund as an example:
While in East Germany their legacy was given the whitewashing you'd expect, in West Germany the original ban of the organization was upheld and past members were prosecuted.
While we can speculate on political motives, the Nazis literally banking on ANTIFA's pugilism as part of their political strategy didn't help:
Wikipeida said:
During the years of its existence the rivalry between the warring organizations such as the Sturmabteilung, the Stahlhelm and the Reichsbanner grew constantly and violence intensified. Since the strategy of the Sturmabteilung (SA) was especially designed to take the political fight to the streets and provoke rivals wherever they could, violent encounters between members of these two organizations soon became a part of everyday life. The SA purposely opened new haunts in working-class districts in which a large part of the population were ‘‘red’’, meaning they supported either the Social Democratic Party of Germany ‘‘SPD’’ or the Communist Party of Germany ‘‘KPD’’ but not the ‘‘brown’’ Nazi Party the Sturmabteilung (SA) stood for. For their rallies the Sturmabteilung almost exclusively chose locations within these districts, knowing that especially the RFB men were not willing to let these provocations go by quietly and many events from either side resulted in violent mass brawls. Attacks on a single member or smaller groups on the streets were often retaliated against with attacks by entire RFB units at known meeting points or favourite hangouts of the Sturmabteilung.

Homage to Catalonia basically describes the initial hype and euphoric feeling that the actually oppressed citizens felt when they overthrew all the structures that had kept them in chains for so long. But it also tells about the degradation of the anarcho-socialist society and how easily infighting and power hungry individuals destroyed it including how people were given rifles from the 1800's in an era where there were machine guns and early semi-auto rifles so that they would all get killed and in the New Order there would be no one questioning them.

They also did this stuff too

Shame they didn't have My Little Pony back then.

There's been some arrests in Portland.

Police said demonstrators threw projectiles and smoke bomb — and knocked down a fence that police had put up. They also said seven suspects were in custody.

Antifa members, Fox News previously reported, have over the last year increasingly made their violent presence known at progressive demonstrations and counter-protests to alt-right groups and speakers across the country — leaving critics to question Antifa’s role in the leftist protest movement and to ask if the group is causing more harm than good.

Yep, looks about what you'd expect.
