So I got off my lazy ass and found the quote from the FUTURE MESSAGE I was talking about. Here:

I can't even get mad at him, even though Owlflap's comment did give me prickly-wicklies, I can't get mad because he's obviously too stupid and too... too NAÏVE to even understand what war is. He honestly has/had a child's mind in a grown man's body. Which means he's retarded, basically.

I don't know about Chris' school, but at the schools I went to, whenever they wanted a paper with a bibliography. they showed us the format to use. Or did Chris not listen to his teacher's instructions? And his paper doesn't really fully explain the reasons that Japan and US went to war. I don't think this quality of writing would have cut it even in most 5th grade classes. Or maybe I went to really tough schools.

I'm sorry. I know venting at an autistic manchild is a useless and tasteless endeavor. It was a spur of the moment kind of thing and I didn't mean to offend anyone. (:_(
 
So they got into an argument over privacy (this is tied into Japan fighting the Chinese, somehow) and who's race was better? And then they decided that it wasn't worth shooting each other over anymore, so they both made peace and were pretty happy? Wow, thanks for the history lesson, Chris!

If bringing things up randomly without explaining how they tie together, letting quotes do all of the talking, giving a version of events that doesn't even resemble history and is factually wrong at points, and racism isn't enough to make the paper into one long stream of red marks with a "see me after class" at the end, I have to wonder what kind of paper would.

Can we mark this kind of overly lenient teaching as one of the contributors to the Chris that we know today? Maybe if he were in third grade, this might be okay, but there's no way that this should slide for someone who's almost done with highschool. This is a full blown failing on the teacher's part to do his job and prepare his student to use the skills that he's supposed to be teaching him.

Several months ago, I was cruising through Cole Smithey's review of "Saving Private Ryan" and I noticed his critique of the Allied war effort--ie, he advocated an air assault of Berlin. In 1942. I wondered how the hell he could come up with such an idea.

Now I don't have that question any more.

Please, if you have questions about this material, you can send me a private message. In my opinion, this composition is garbage, like the author. I am a gringo, but I can speak Spanish, because I had 4 years of Spanish in my secondary school. I can speak better than Ricardo, because he is fat and stupid. Ricardo is very weak and sick in the mind. He only thinks that he can speak Spanish. I am a Spanish speaker that is full of the truth and the honesty.
 
CUADRO DE HONOR. Notice how many of those are for elementary schools, in my local experience, schools in Spanish-speaking countries only apply the honor roll up to the end of elementary. Junior highs don't really care about that stuff, and in High School it's unheard of unless it's a fancy expensive private college.

My mom and her sister were Honor Roll students in High School, in a public school, but they're from a small town and all, so probably it was just a custom there. We don't have honor roll where I live; the students with the best grades get to "carry" the national flag in special ocassions, but that's it.
