One of the many good things to come from the death of the SoK is their preference for only one way to do TIHYDP videos. If a TIHYDP didn't match their preference then they never featured it. So what happened is a lot of recent videos were made according to the SoK standards, which stifled creativity.

Now that the SoK is gone, I hope the creativity comes back.
nah, I think that's giving them too much credit. Some people do long stretches not because of SOK, but simply because they want to keep the essence of Phil as "pure" as possible. There's a reason why some people dislike heavily edited TIHYDPs like Doom 3, and prefer the less edited ones like GTA SA or Black Mesa (which still have a fairly significant amount of edits btw)

Pure Phil is boring as paint drying. There's just hours of him being simply bad, which just isn't all that interesting. What's funny is when he's staggeringly, outrageously bad. This is often in things like boss fights where he just repeatedly does exactly the same stupid shit and loses exactly the same way over and over again without learning anything, then blames the game.

Or when he commits some genuinely titanic act of pure stupidity, like the GTA video where text in giant letters tells him to buy a shotgun with a flashlight attachment, his partner tells him in voice to buy a shotgun with flashlight attachment, then tells him again, then literally gives him the money to buy it, then he still fucks up and buys other shit and loses, and throws a fit.

Or the crouch-jump thing in Black Mesa, which is one of the longer ones that is still funny, because it's literally 20 minutes of him utterly failing at something a 10 year old could do, based on one of the central game mechanics.

So much of the SoK shit is literally hours long unedited bullshit of people being as unfunny as DSP's Holocaust jokes in Dead Space 2.

I don't mean pure phil as in KOF 14 TIHYDP (just as an example) where he did kinda bad.
I mean pure Phil as in MGS3 (like that long section vs The End) that kind of pure Phil I was referring to.

Or like in the recent Crash run where he had to get a gem by not dying, got to the gem, then stepped off an edge.

Granted you may disagree, but I did think back then that we were trying to make TIHYDP better. For instance there's no way I could sit through over 3 hours or more of Phil playing Dark Souls and I always thought it was better to wait until a playthrough is done before starting a TIHYDP because these multiple part ones are a little much. I'd like to see people be creative with TIHYDPs too but I do think a lot of them suffer from a lot of bloating filler.

I'm continuously amazed that he still has autists who watch him and give him money.

He cries so much while playing DBZ it goes beyond being funny bad to watch to just pure cringe. He cries that he never played Guilty Gear (made by the same devs as DBZ) where it barely plays like Guilty Gear, it plays like fucking Marvel VS Capcom which is a series he has fucking played extensively. One of the big changes is the burst mechanic which is literally one button that he could figure out if he just looked at the controls.

There's a ton of people who didn't get into this beta and meanwhile this asshole somehow lucked into it and bitches and moans the entire time.

Didn't he play GG? remember that post from the top haters dump where he bitched about GG games?

He may have very briefly. He hates anime fighters even though a lot of people in the FGC would agree that the Marvel VS Capcom series actually plays very close to an anime fighter.

That's... a new level of pathetic I didn't think Phil could achieve. I'm atually impressed.
Nah, he's been that pathetic before. One time he said his job is harder than manual labor jobs like construction cause those people actually get days off while he has to game everyday. Yeah, he really said that. Being a let's player is more difficult than roofing or doing masonry work.

It's also important to mention that other people in his line of work know and do a whole lot more that he does.

These are things Phil doesn't do:
  • Edit videos
  • Use background music (he just runs his PS4 or SF2 and lets the music play and sometimes goes silent despite his partner network having a library of music that he would be free to use)
  • Make his own thumbnails
  • Respond to his fanbase's comments/queries
  • Play games that his fanbase has paid him to play
  • Keep up to date with technology at all
  • Actually know how to use the software/hardware that is required for his job

Also, this whole HARDCORE GAMING SEASON shit?
Phil is pretty much the only person on earth who uses the term (this is done from a fresh Google instance with no search history, so the results are not biased to previous searches).

The average American male full-time worker works 8.9 hr/day = 44.5 hr/wk (5 day work week)
The average American's commute time is 52.8 min/day (round trip) = 4.4 hr/wk
Total hours devoted to work/wk = 48.9

The average fat gouty DSP streams an (estimated) average of 5 hrs/day =35 hr/week (7 day work week)
The average fat gouty DSP prepares videos and uploads an average of (estimated-generously) 1.5 Hrs/day = 10.5 hr/wk
Total hours devoted to "work"/wk =45.5

Yeah it's a mystery why he's having such problems with viewer growth and retention.

If only we knew the cause...
https://twitter.com/Drgnkiller/status/909166646186643456 (http://archive.is/KqQCU)

I was curious about Phil's hours and how they relate to the amount of viewers on Twitch at a given time.
https://sullygnome.com/viewers

This is what the ebb/flow of viewers on Twitch is like. This graph is using Pacific Daylight Time btw (UTC -7), which is what Phil provides his streaming schedule in
upload_2017-9-17_17-40-48.png

Saturday seems to be the most popular.

upload_2017-9-17_17-41-7.png

Phil usually schedules his first stream at 12:30 PDT, but this just means he pushes the 'stream' button and doesn't actually speak or do anything. Usually this takes us to about 12:45 PDT.

Next we have the prestream which takes anywhere from 45-60 minutes. This varies depending upon how long of a piss break he needs to take etc. So we'll call it 13:30 PDT by the time Phil is playing an actual video game.

This gives Phil something like 30 minutes at the peak number of viewers (13:30 - 14:00 PDT)
upload_2017-9-17_17-46-6.png

Phil generally plays for 3-4 hours taking us to approx 16:00 PDT
upload_2017-9-17_17-48-49.png

He then starts his second stream at about 7:30pm PDT. I'm not sure if he does a prestream etc because I've never been bothered to watch one.

At this point Phil's second stream seems to occur when Twitch has the least number of viewers possible.
He doesn't seem to take advantage of the huge increase in viewers that Saturday/Sunday bring (anywhere from 10-20%) by rescheduling his day or doing a longer stream scheduled around peak hours. Of course not.

He also said his job is more mentally taxing then a boxer's because while a boxer fighting is physically harder Phil has to think about his job and deal with detractors all day. So Phil either thinks there is no mental game to boxing or if there is it is not as tough as dealing with mean people on the internet.

He maybe played old school GG but as far as the newer ones nope. The only ArcSys game from recent memory he played was Persona 4 arena. Which is funny since that's the route the developers are taking with the game, you can mash certain buttons for easy combos.

The biggest thing that I found to be one of the most hilarious comments he ever made was that before the Beta he proclaimed alot of people listened to his word on fighting games and when he actually plays Beta he is completely and utterly lost because he didn't do ANY fucking research or watch videos on it at all. He just whined about the lack of a tutorial in the BETA of a game.

7:42 into the video @BrunoMattei posted actually floored me, how can someone who says they are a DBZ fan not know what the Ki charge does? Oh yeah this fat fuck doesn't do any research into or look up stuff on the games he plays unless it's handed to him on a silver platter.

3:04 Time Stamp where he says when plays a fighting game he covers it in depth, what a load of shit.

I did not see someone mentioning this before,is anyone surprised that Phil is calling the patreons that voted for mario sunshine detractors? According to him,if you give him money and vote for a game he does not want you are a detractor.
Only way this makes any sense is if DSP finally realised a flaw in his Patreon 'logistics'. DSP regularly describes how he deals with new pledges: he PMs them on Patreon first Sunday of the month after pledges clear, then he goes through all the messages the next Sunday & sends off an email? to Onyx, his anonymous webmaster, to give all the $5+ patrons their "premium" forum upgrades.
Note there's no mention of downgrading people who didn't pledge $5+ last month. This might be what DSP is talking about, people who pledged $5 at one point, still have their Patreon 'premium forum access' as he can't be bothered pruning out old patrons and are 'abusing' their access voting in this poll they shouldn't have access to.

Lol Hardcore Gaming Season.

At first to him it was Nov-Dec. Then is was Oct-Dec. Now he reaaaallly pushes it. He was saying the end of July I believe that it felt like the "Hardcore Gaming Season".

By 2020 it's projected the Hardcore Gaming Season will start around February and end in January.
I wonder if DSP ever figured out when 2016's 'Hardcore Gaming Season' even began. He first claimed it was No Man's Sky in August, that failed, maybe DXMD in September, no, CoD & Battlefield 1, no... thanks to the YouTube views algorithm changes in the summer, all views dropped & thus DSP never felt he got to the HGS. This is part of why he ranted so much about stream attendance before he finally got convinced to go back to Twitch.

DSP has mentioned barely playing Guilty Gear in the past, but never played any of the games or the BlazBlue series on YouTube. Closest he came was Persona 4 Arena, and he barely played that, never even went online.

Boxer DSP puts in more mental effort.jpg

For anyone who missed this post on the old forums, this was before my time & the only copy I could ever find was this photo of a screen. DSP just loves coming up with crazy comparisons.

That boxer quote is one of the most stupid things I've ever read, he's never heard of the term "punch drunk" in boxing where getting your brain smacked around inside of skull for so long can have long term consequences on your speaking and as well memory loss.
For example this video of interview with Hall of Famer Terry Norris almost 20 years after his final fight

and if you want to go deeper you look into Meldrick Taylor after his fight with Julio Cesar Chavez where after one fight he was changed for life.

Sorry for sperging but I used to do boxing and still actively follow it and that got me legit pissed off, Fuck off Phil.

He really can't manage forum ranks by himself?

Unbelievable.
