The art style of the Jem comic honestly doesn't bother me since some of it uses concepts the creator of the original show wanted to put in (Jetta being black and Techrat being androgynous based off Boy George.) Even Stormer's design, which gained quite some controversy, isn't too bad in my eyes. Not to mention Sophie Campbell is genuinely good and can pull off diverse designs very well.

Besides, when the movies were being cast, didn't Rowling have a pretty big say in what actors were chosen? If Hermione was meant to be black in the books, the movie casting would have reflected that. Yeah, the artist said she's Hermoine. I find the design cute as a standalone character, but there's no need to label it as a pre-existing white character... It's honestly making me question my memory if Hermoine was even white in the books to begin with.
