DarksydePhil / TheyCallMeDSP / Phil Burnell - General Discussion

We know he has his meeting on Monday, so I can guess what will happen on Tuesday...

*snort* so guys, looks like a few things are going to change in my life, but you know I'm the underdog and I've been the guy with the 'true and honest' opinion on things who tells it as it is and what i'm telling you right now is I really need your help. Please beg, borrow or steal your way to a plane ticket down to Renton for this month's new and exclusive patreon goal for the first episode of DSP Fixes It. The stupid people at the HOA have come down on me with a bunch of rules they never even came and personally told me existed! what morons! So it's going to need a few people to step up and support me to keep doing this job and providing FREE content online to everyone. I need a painter, a plumber, an HVAC specialist, I need someone who knows how to replace a driveway as well as someone who can deal with mold infestations. I know this is a bit more of an ask than last month's patreon, but you WILL get a double reward with this, you get to come to my house to personally meet me and help me build my dream house as well as get a special forum rank!

Come on, man, that's way too flowery! What he needs is a 'full-time butler', and we all know the perfect candidate.

Guess what? At the end of the month, Gouty McGout still makes around $7k/month on the back of these "glorious trolling" attempts.

Eh, I'm not gonna toss bits at him, but I can see why people do troll cheers- for just 10 cents and a little bit of wit, you get to rile him up- even if you get banned, he's probably going to bitch about it for a good chunk of the stream and in the worst case, take it out on someone else. At least Chris ignores harassment to a point- Phil will always whine, even if he doesn't read it. It's like those pull-string toys- near guaranteed results.

If you're going to do 10 bit troll cheers please make it as subtle as possible and also time it appropriately so that his prestreams always extend into hour-long territory (you shouldn't troll cheer anyway because ur giving him money, but since no one is ever going to stop, please at least practice to be subtle)

He went on a rant just a little while ago about the 10 bit cheers and how he wasn't going to answer them anymore, so you get to make Phil look like he's inconsistent. You also act as a buffer for people who have done legitimate tips/cheers for much higher values by pushing them to wait even longer.

You also make anyone who is there to watch his stream get extremely angry about the never ending prestream. That's what led to that recent mod demotion.

If Phil doesn't answer 10 bit cheers then he is an ungrateful answer, if he does answer 10 bit cheers then he is wasting everyone's time. It's a double reward situation, just like Phil's patreon.

Good questions to ask is stuff like:
  • What game would you recommend from the past few months that you've played?
  • What's the temperature like now in Seattle?
  • When are you going to do your next cooking show/house tour/whatever?
  • Make sure that you don't always ask questions. Compliments are great time wasters and usually lead Phil to embark on some unrelated 20 minute tirade about his weekly grocery trip.
Bad questions to ask is anything like this:
  • Any question mentioning gout/daughters/HOA/loans/debt
Keep in mind that if you do obvious shit that he can say is done by "da detractors" then you're going to stick out like a sore thumb and give him a legitimate reason to skip 10 bit cheers. If you manage to be subtle you will get to see him get extremely angry.

EDIT:
He's gonna do a bit of an update this evening:

I dont agree with giving him money, BUT if you must try to troll and rile him up since he doesnt even look at stream chat except when hunting for hints, I'll echo the sentiments said before. BE SUBTLE. Dont troll cheer with 100 bits and say something like "Is the HOA going to take away your house?" The answer to that will always be "a troll gave me 100 bits to say something insulting. They're now banned, thanks for the money dummy" You havent wasted any of the stream's time and you've given him a dollar.

Better trolls are asking about food, asking about the plants, asking about fighting games, asking about WWE. Things like that will make you seem like you're on his side, and will derail Phil into 20 minute tangents thus wasting the stream's time, wasting the time of those watching on youtube, and sometimes it will get the chat riled up as well thus devolving the chat into your question, and not how awesome Phil is.

Week in preview. Next few weeks. NotLikeThis

Here it is. Get to hear a great story about how his monitor died, and he had to go and use the monitor in his bedroom. Again. Like the 5th time he's explained this shit.

Here's my breakdown (which I'm updating as I watch it). Just to clarify that anything I place in quotes is either a direct quote or slightly edited for the sake of brevity. I don't invent quotes, but I also make mistakes, so if something is particularly controversial I'd suggest you watch the source material for verification:
  • Spends the first minute explaining the excitement that comes with having your computer screen dying and then having to replace it with an unused tv from your bedroom.
  • He's talking about the 'emergency vlahg'.
  • Claiming he siphoned his anger from this situation that's going on behind the scenes into MvC and that's the reason he was angry. Goes on a huge rant/tangent about MvC and how its not a real children's fighting game.
  • He says he has no updates. He says he has a really important appointment tomorrow afternoon (Monday) which will prevent him from being able to stream because its at the same time.
  • "in order to start getting initial information on this thing that's going on behind the scenes"
  • Talks about the speculation about his health, his financial situation, his house getting demoed, IRS audit, DSP enterprises. He says none of that is true.
  • "It's a really unique situation that I may or may not be able to disclose more information about as it happens, right now initially this is the really the first time I'm going to be having some kind of major focus on it and try to figure stuff out with what's going on here"
  • "I hope that everything goes good, and even if there is some negative impact, there is no huge debilitating impact on myself, on my ability to do livestreams every day, my ability to stay here"
  • "my quality of my has gone way up since I moved here, it's the studio, it's a soundproofed studio, this really is, it's an office/studio for my work. I do this a lot more professionally than I used to, it's not being an echoey living room"
  • "if I were ever forced to sell this place, and go to a small place or you know, god forbid, worst case scenario, move back to the east coast, back to where I started, a lot of the things, the improvements that I put into the business slash whatever you want to call this, because technically it's not a business. That's another thing to, I've been calling out this is not a business, because it's not, it's not a legally registered business and a lot of people have been saying 'oh that's why I think Phil is getting tax audited'. It's not, this isn't a legally registered business at all. It's just me being self-employed, making some ad revenue on my videos on YouTube, making some ad revenue on my stream, and you guys subbing, cheering, tipping, patreon, you know all that is income and it's not a registered business or anything like that.
  • "But whatever you want to call it, I put a ton of time, effort, blood, sweat, tears into getting to where I am and it just sucks there are just so many bullshit circumstances that have put me already financially in a position where I'm bad and now, all this shit going on behind the scenes that I can't really talk about, may make things even worse. I don't know the future is certain folks, thank you for your support"
  • "This year has been one of if not the most challenging year of my life. A lot of shit that happened, the YouTube adpocalypse, going out of my five.. year-long relationship with my ex-girlfriend, struggling through, deader times in the summer, trying to put out constant content, with my throat being fucked up like it was all summer, and finally seemingly a false copyright strike as well during the summer, let's not forget about those. And finally, seeming to come over the end and now things have been good, you know, August was a great month on stream and on YouTube, September, you know there's 6 days left in the month after today and its looking like its going to be a good month overall if not great, like August was."
    • Note: there was some distinction/word play when he mentioned his relationship with Leanna. He almost tried to enforce that it was year-long, but that's my own personal take on how he screwed up the wording.
  • "And you're like wow, all these positive things, and then something else comes to get me from behind. And the other thing that really irks me about this, unlike a lot of stuff that happens to me, like, you know I've made some bad financial decisions, I openly admit that, the decisions I've made were based off of estimating that I would have the level of income that I had when I made those decisions, and it didn't, my income went (whistles while making a downward motion with his hand) over the past three years, and now that's why I'm in a bad position right now, but this particular situation I'm in, there's nothing I could have done to prevent it. I didn't do anything wrong, it wasn't a bad choice on my behalf, it has nothing to do with you as a viewing audience, nothing, it's nothing like that at all, it's just overall shit.
  • "It's like the worst possible fucking luck, whatever you want to call it and you thing I haven't been through the ringer enough, being DDoS attacked, being doxxed, being SWATed, false copyright strikes, my channel falling out of YouTube search, basically being slandered all over the internet, you know all the negative videos about me. That's not enough, now this has to come out of left field too on top of everything. It's like I said on Monday, it's like it gets to a point where its like... (Phil sighs) I don't know how much more I can take man, I'm tired of being a punching bag, I really am. I just want to do what I'm doing and love it and have fun doing it and just stop with the abuse. I do, I'm feeling abused at this point. What the fuck, is going on here that all this crazy shit keeps happening"
  • (goes through a whole bunch of boring schedule shit).
  • Says that his mood has come across negatively in the streams.
  • Mentions running ads on stream while he has 1000 viewers.
  • Will do a stream on Monday, but he doesn't know when its going to be because he has this "very important appointment I have to go to in the afternoon, that was the only time available on an emergency basis to have this kind of appointment and basically the appointments around like early afternoon, so I don't know when its going to end. It could end up being quick, it could end up taking forever, I don't know"
  • "What I'm going to do is go to this appointment, and when it ends, grab something to eat on the way home"
  • He's gonna update people using da social media.
  • Mentions the fucking fire alarm inspector guy again.
  • Goes on a bunch of boring shit about upcoming games and patreon ends on this coming Sunday. Goes on about the drama of Patreon pledges and a bunch of boring shit, and how he can't do Patreon upgrades etc until a week later because he usually does it on Sunday, but because it won't be ready on Sunday he has to wait an entire week to do something that takes 20 minutes at most.
  • Goes on about how he's 250 dollars below the patreon goal, and how it's totally achievable (we've heard this like a thousand times before)
  • He's gonna do a Christmas goal on Patreon
  • "I just hope we can hit this goal for this month, it's certainly not like I don't need the money, I do, I need the help right now financially and with everything going on so please consider pledging (motions to the Patreon logo/name in the bottom right of his video)
  • "FYI, if you do pledge right now, I will not be messaging you on the first, because all the pledges won't have even cleared yet by the end of the first. I gotta wait a day or two and then what I do is message the people whose pledges were declined and wait for them to maybe update their information and for that to clear. So I'll be messaging you about a week later" (he says he's gonna explain more later)
  • "I'm gonna be taking time off, I need it, I mean you know how stressed now I've been, especially with all the shit going on behind the scenes and everything. I'm going to be taking some time off from live-streaming (he'll either start on the 3rd or 4th October)
  • Says he's gonna probably do a double stream on Sat/Sun even though he normally doesn't so he can upload a bunch of shit to his YouTube channel.
  • He then talks about his schedule and da hardcore gaming season
  • "I will say this, I will say this, if and when I finally have some definitive news on all this shit going on behind the scenes, that I feel like I can share with you and it's healthy to do so, not that I'm going to share information when it's something already in process and now it can affect the process. You know what's going to happen, already people are making these wild theories, these crazy ass fucking theories are insane, like shell corporations, couldn't believe that one. It was like this elaborately drawn out conspiracy theory I saw on my forums, I was like 'Jesus Christ, these people have so much free time to think this shit up, I couldn't have thought that shit up, seriously.
  • "But anyway, the point I'm making is I will, I'm dying to tell you what's going on, but right now it would not benefit me to do so, until I have more information for you, until I'm in a situation where I know exactly how what's going on is going to affect me in the long term, okay, so why tell you about something now when I have no idea what's going to happen?
  • "I mean, best case scenario, again (Phil does a touchwood motion on his table, which I'm pretty sure is covered with vinyl and thus would negate any benefit from doing a touchwood) maybe the whole thing is just blown out of proportion and will not affect me too big at all, and I could just keep doing this and I never have to mention it again. Worst case having to lose everything and basically sell off everything in the house, sell the house, move back to Connecticut, that would not be good... that would be horrible, that would be really like... giving up basically, throwing in the towel after busting my ass for so long and I don't want to have to do that, but it's like I said in the video last week, some things can't be helped and sorry that I'm not... I never made it big on YouTube like everyone else did, it's funny because everyone knows who I am, everyone knows DarksydePhil but I'm not rich... but yet everyone knows who I am versus everyone else who're big names on YouTube all have insane amounts of money and shit... and you know, I never got there. Crazy, because if I was in that situation I'd probably be ok, but that's it, I'm not, I'm already extended to the point where you guys know I'm barely paying my bills and something else creeps up. This is just insanity at this point, so I'll let you know when I have more information.
  • Goes on about being positive and how people have contacted him to give him support and say he's an inspiration for not giving up and getting a job with all the YouTube/troll shit
  • dat's all folks

Eh, I wouldn't troll cheer him at all. Funny reaction or not you're still giving his sorry ass money.

Just let his remaining unironic fans throw their money at him, then laugh when he flips out at them and bans them; then laugh when they end up here because of his shit attitude. His mental state is decaying already, so it's not like he's gonna stop doing just that.

I don't think there exists a video thumbnail of him out there that doesn't make him look totally nuts or a clown with no self respect. Dude's a fucking bug eyed weirdo.

On principle I agree with not giving him money. Otherwise I would say do whatever you find entertaining. If you're amused by spamming "HOA" until you get 5-6 accounts banned--each faster than the one before--until user names with "HOA" in them are insta-banned, then by all means enjoy yourself.

Why would you give this fat fuck ANY money at All? He himself said, more than once, that if you try to troll him by giving him money, he'll keep the money and make fun of you! Consider the fact that, if you troll cheer him, no matter the amount, he will still consider you dumber than him. And the worst part of it? He will be right.

Chill, I was just looking at it as a pure cost-result thing. Trolling with money is never a good investment, 10 cents or not. Even then, Phil reads every damn cheer he gets anyway, even the ones that ask about what he ate for breakfast or some shit- he doesn't need extra help there.

i can see the appeal of giving him money just to fuck with him. however, he's announced and demonstrated his immunity to it as you described. furthermore troll cheers happen all the time and he just considers dealing with them just a chore that's not very entertaining rather than a derailing event. so while i like the idea in principle as a way of fucking with him, i think in reality it's just dumb to do at this point.

Just keep in mind that at the 10 bit level, even if he got 10 a day (300 per month) that's still only 30 dollars. While the practice of giving money to him is disagreeable. 30 fucking dollars is never, ever going to meaningfully impact any part of his life.

This isn't chrischan buying more legoes. Phil has an entire two mortgages, six keurigs, a brand new car and a bunch of other stupid shit that he has on his plate. Any money he spends isn't willingly (unless its for frivolous shit). Unless someone manages to cheer him a billion bits then it isn't going to meaningfully affect the situation he currently is in any way, shape or form.

him acting all NDA-like makes me think he's getting sued for something. i can't imagine what, but with how hushhush he's being and just for a second believing that he's being truthful in saying that nothing that has been speculated on is true, it's the first thing i can think of.

maybe he has some outstanding debt that he's finally being taken to court for?

Phil really is an inspiration so I have no doubt that people have told him such. He's living every kid's dream. He wakes up in the middle of the day, plays video games all day, eats unhealthy food for every meal, stays up late into the night, and has no mom to tell him what to do or what he can't say. If you're 11 years old, Phil is your hero.

Phil may play USF2 to fill out videos to upload during his break.
On the 8th, Phil may participate in the Star Wars Battlefront II beta.

Nice. I try to do more quotes because I think it's a good way to promote discussion. I get its pretty autistic, but the problem I find with some of the twitter people that post selective quotes is that they remove a lot of the context of what Phil is saying. I think with the larger quotes its easier to have a proper discussion of things.

On the 8th, Phil may participate in the Star Wars Battlefront II beta.
Fucking idiot, the beta begins on the 6th, or the 4th if you preorder the game. Given that Battlefront II will likely be one of the biggest releases of the year, he should be trying to capitalize on that popularity by getting on that beta ASAP so that his Kwality Khantent doesn't get lost amongst the other gameplay.

Don't get me wrong, the views will still be horrible, but they'll be slightly more abysmal if he waits until the end.

Here's a tweet from Drgnkiller that got me thinking.

The way Phil has talked about it since then (throwing her under the bus constantly) you'd think the break-up had to have been pretty bad. I can't imagine there being an ounce of truth behind a "mutual agreement" to split up. No way as anyone broken off an engagement, lightly. Consider this:

1) On May 14th Phil uploads, "Hate LIVE! Podcast Ep.40: May 14, 2017 pt3: EMERGENCY! + True MCN Story & Q&A" to THEKINGOFHATEVLOGS which was when he divulged information about Leanna's medical history that should've been kept private and a long, over-dramatic story that ended with him refusing to allow her to go to a hospital again.

2) Apparently, on May 18th Leanna appears, uncharacteristically, on Phil's stream saying she's "leaving to meet a friend". This is also the last know record of her at the house before Phil announced the break up on Twitter.

3)Phil is up in his room pretty much for good during his, at least, 3 hour streams and he even admitted that he didn't sleep with her a majority of the time cause he snores and it would keep her from getting sleep for work early the next morning. She as a ton of time away from him.

The way I see it, whenever she had learned about the EMERGENREEEEE BLOG, presumably the 17th of May, the next day during his afternoon stream she used that time to get together her crap, got a hold of some kind of transportation, threw all her belongings into it and split. She had to have been staying with someone over there. Her family was literally on the other side of the state. Maybe crashed at a friend from work's place? Who knows. The point I'm trying to make is that whatever happened, it was brutal, and in no way a regular break up which is why he's strangely not making such a huge fuss out of it. I don't care who you are. Parting ways with someone you've lived with for the better part of the 5 years you were dating, AND someone you planed on marrying, is a ginormous deal. It's probably something that is the last thing he wants his mind to dwell on.

He's said in the past he's not being sued.
He's said its not the IRS

We all know he and his sycophants view these forums and stalk twitter looking for any negativity about him

He has never said anything about the HOA. Of all of the theories he hasnt attempted to debunk the HOA theory.

His insistence that its "not mah fault dood" could be him lying as usual that nothing is his fault. But he has lived in this condo for 3 years. If "I didnt know that I had to pay dues" he would have been out a long time ago.

What makes me curious is this "meeting". I dont know of anything other than requesting payment plans or something like that for an assessment that the condo complex is doing. Not sure that they'd have a "meeting" if he was in violation of HOA rules. But it does seem interesting that he's completely avoided the HOA theories.
