Mass Effect Andromeda: Shitstorm Edition - RIP Biowear

Well they had to open up a new studio in a city filled with gaming studios because the Austin location wouldn't work on it and Edmonton has two known IP's being worked on currently and a whole new unknown IP being worked on so they're swamped. All of that money wasted for lackluster sales, closing of the Bioware forums, bad PR because of the racist guy over at Bioware Montreal it's really only natural to blame the fan base because they want their fans to eat shit up. You should be happy to buy a new game no matter how bad it is because after all, don't we do that with Call of Duty?

It's funny, I was mulling over how to make a sequel to the Mass Effect series given the clusterfuck of an ending a few days ago, and I had an idea.
So, like, one of the central things in Mass Effect is that conventional FLT travel is impractical outside of close star clusters, and the mass effect relays are needed to travel relatively long distances.
So, instead of trying to make a sequel that attempts to account for all three choices, or just leaves what happens to the galaxy out, make it a "what if" type game that assumes that Shepard nuked the Reapers in 3, damaging or destroying all of the mass effect relays and plunging the galaxy into a new dark age. With the primary method of long distance FTL travel destroyed, the survivors of the reaper invasion find themselves confined to close star clusters reachable with conventional FLT, unable to communicate with or travel to other star clusters.
Hundreds of years in the future, one of these star clusters is invaded by an unknown scouting force that had somehow come through the cluster's damaged mass effect relay and partially repaired it. As the commander of a small reconnaissance ship, you must travel through the partially working relay, explore what the galaxy has evolved into, and uncover what these strange invaders are, before they begin a full assault on your home.
Hey Bioware, I just came up with a better premise than ME:A, hire me plese.

Go to the McDonald's close to their Edmonton location and pitch the idea. They used to be really open to input back in the day even if their EA overlords wouldn't accept such ideas.

Yeah yeah sure sounds great. Now, tell us about your commitment to workplace diversity...

I refuse to support this title until I know how many trans lesbian cosplayers with zero coding skills you'll be hiring.

But really, that does sound much better than what they came up with.

This is EA all over. May I remind everyone that EA sneered at criticism of its microtransaction-riddled mobile "remake" of Dungeon Keeper as them innovating too much.

I've been playing the multiplayer of Andromeda and yes, it has loot boxes that you can buy with real money. Ugh. Also, you can't have your multiplayer character name show up for other players. After all, why else did I call my human vanguard Pat McGroin?

That's got to sting for the people who shelled out $80 for the SUPAH DELUXE version earlier this year.

A guy I know at Gamestop says they basically can't even give these away.

I feel bad for people that bought it at full price. It was a highly anticipated title and people expected a much better experience with less derp and aliens discussing pronouns.

Went to my local Wal-Mart to grab the new South Park game and noticed sometime in the past week all copies of Andromeda have been removed from the locked case and tossed onto the $19.95 clearance shelf along with mostly unsold PS3/360 games.

Games that have been out longer are still selling for more. There's stacks of it at my local used game store and I think I saw the deluxe version there for the same price. May have to grab it eventually.

the deluxe is a bunch of cosmetics, a bit of unsalvageable low level gear and a bonus multiplayer pack with a high chance of giving you almost nothing but consumables. i'd call it a ripoff but if you can get it at regular game price i say go for it.

Cheap shit is still shit. That's why it's so cheap to begin with.

But... nobody credible criticised it for being a colonialist fantasy. They criticised it for dire facial animations, clunky writing, and inconsistent quest design / quality. This sounds like a strawman argument he's making.

The enemy was a Borg-like species even, that approriated other species' cultural, biological and technological diversity for their own.

and their boss (actually more like local branch manager) is a fuck-ugly ridiculous stone monkey with a halo that spends the whole game failing to look like a threat. pretty awesome final battle though. more than he deserves for being a nuisance every time he rears his assface. see if you could do something like that to fight harbinger/tim/tim's harbinger-controlled corpse at the end of me3 it would have been a good addition to the endless elite minion barrage of the final level

ill be honest, if they picked up all the threads they left hanging and made a sequel id buy it. for $20. and only for pc 6 months after launch so i could mod out all the crap that survived 6 months of ridicule and patches. its a decent $20 mod-compatible game.
I wish instead of all of that, we had the geth back. legion was dabes
did you mean garrus because you obviously meant garrus

And that in turn was apparently the result of the original development team spinning their wheels and experimenting with stupidly infeasible ideas for three years, and a new team having to hastily put everything together in a relatively short timeframe. Which I'm 99.99% certain was nothing to do with the development leads all being white guys, no matter what Manveer seems to think.
