It never fails to get a laugh out of me when I think about the fact that Alison has such an incredibly low opinion of men, but also
- has the entire list of negative traits usually associated with masculinity (unnecessary aggressiveness, unchecked libido, etc)
- is a deviant who believes children should be sexualized and exposed to ultra violence
- ruined her own life defending child porn and trying (and failing) to please men sexually for money
- let coworkers treat her like an organic fleshlight
- and has put herself into a position where her entire financial existence relies on getting men to approve of her appearance

A lot of women have problems with their periods. Overly heavy flows, irregularity, intense cramping, severe PMS, and various combinations of the above. Birth control takes care of all of that to allow women to function normally, like other women without those problems.
