This Maria person brings up what is probably the most frustrating thing about these victims. People like Alison, Anita Sarkessian, Zoe Quinn and Brianna Wu do not care about what is best for women at all. It is all about the fight to them. As long as it looks like they are fighting against sexism that is all they care about. If something happened to them that was not sexist, they will find a way to make it be sexist. It is all about the image not about any actual injustice.
now i cant unsee itThe angle of that pic really shows off how the tip of her nose looks like a butt.
The biggest problem with that angle is that it shows her face. The angle of that pic really shows off how the tip of her nose looks like a butt.
Wow. That is uncanny.H. P. Gingercraft

I've read through all 750 pages of this thread and all I can say is...wow.
Okay, first off, Alison should quit LARPing as this super "anti-capitalist" because she clearly hasn't read Marx or Engels or else she would know that Marxism is very much against prostitution. Alison, if you're reading this thread and are too lazy to go to your local library and check out books, here are a few selections:
“Prostitution is only a specific expression of the general prostitution of the labourer, and since it is a relationship in which falls not the prostitute alone, but also the one who prostitutes — and the latter’s abomination is still greater — the capitalist, etc., also comes under this head.”
— Marx, “Economic and Philosophic Manuscripts of 1844”
“Marriage itself remained, as before, the legally recognized form, the official cloak of prostitution.”
— Engels, “Socialism: Utopian and Scientific,” Chapter 1
“And here is the answer to the outcry of the highly moral philistines against the ‘community of women.’ Community of women is a condition which belongs entirely to bourgeois society and which today finds its complete expression in prostitution. But prostitution is based on private property and falls with it. Thus, communist society, instead of introducing community of women, in fact abolishes it.”
— Engels, “The Principles of Communism,” 1847
I guess we should be glad there hasn't been an Alison/Seattle Commie Radical Queers or ANTIFA crossover yet, though I wouldn't put it past her.
Anyway, she just comes across as your average graduate of a mid/low-tier liberal arts school whose sole reason for existence is to be a hugbox for these types of exceptional individuals of the stingy jew persuasion (since they obviously can't attract students because of their elite standing). Similar to the uber-conservative Christian colleges that attract students because of the specific type of environment they'll provide for them. I think most of the thread just speaks for itself, but I had to comment on how fucking stupid her "sex positive" interpretation of Marxism is, which is unfortunately, an interpretation shared by many a First World commie.
Also, if anyone is interested, I could pull up the admissions statistics for + information about her grad program (as UMN is a public school, it's required to post details such as average GRE scores of admitted applicants). I just need to know the year she was admitted. The fact that she took out student loans for a grad degree strikes me as highly problematic, as the mantra for grad school is "you shouldn't be paying to go to grad school; grad school should be paying you to go." Either that or she did get full funding and her loans are from her UG years, which again, would be problematic because she could've gone to UMN with in-state (read: cheap) tuition and gotten just as good of an education there. But as we all know, exceptional individuals make exceptional decisions, especially regarding money.
You read all 750 pages and didn't notice that Alison isn't any sort of Marxist? When she says she hates "capitalism" she's not referring to any specific analysis by Marx, Engels, or whoever else. She hates capitalism because it's the system that demands she work to earn her daily bread.Okay, first off, Alison should quit LARPing as this super "anti-capitalist" because she clearly hasn't read Marx or Engels or else she would know that Marxism is very much against prostitution.

That's true, I guess I just wanted her to know (because we all know that she reads this thread) that the original "anti-capitalists" were very much "whorephobic SWERFS." But yeah, I'm sure the only theory she's ever read was during her academia days and I'm sure it was the usual French post-structuralism as interpreted by American college professors, i.e. a clusterfuck.
As for her graduate studies, the website for the Comm department of UMN implies that there's only a PhD available (https://cla.umn.edu/comm-studies/phd-communication-studies), and we all know that Rapp only has an MA. Which begs the question, did she apply for/get accepted to the PhD program and just wasn't cut out to finish it (that happens quite a bit in PhD programs, where the completion of the MA is sort of a consolation prize for those who drop out of the PhD program)?
But then I look at the application data for the program (https://apps.grad.umn.edu/stats/ad/1207400.shtml) and there's a separate MA and PhD option (while there's no mention of a terminal MA on the department's website, only a PhD).

Here are the GRE scores over the years. I have no idea when Rapp was admitted, but the program seems to be getting applicants with better scores starting in around 2014-2015 (as this is a Comm program, the Verbal portion is the only one that really counts).
She graduated in 2013.

BTW, why does she have 3 majors for her bachelor's?
In other news, I hadn't seen this early Maria Mint evidence before. Ali used to be decent looking. Note her eyes are covered, however.

Yeah, to be honest, she could've had it made in academia. Her grades were good, I'm sure her GRE scores were decent (or at least good enough to get into a Comm graduate program and get funded), and as you said, academia, especially in disciplines like Comm (I'd also add Anthropology and all of the Humanities and "Studies" disciplines) loves "intersectional shenanigans."Her thesis advisor was Ed Schiappa, who is kind of a big deal in Communication Studies. He jumped from U of M to MIT in 2012. She didn't make the jump with him.
Her academic career looked pretty good until she went to Nintendo. They like that weeb/feminism shit in Comm.

It often starts out that way, and then the next generation of "scholars" takes it all as gospel truth. Is the whole SJ-W movement just because communication majors get bored of communicating and started coming up with outlandish bullshit as a thought exercise?
