Farmers redraw hideous tumblr art - You know you want to

Anybody here who's browsed the SJW art thread has probably encountered Gelasticat's art. She's the quintessential Tumblr artist- bad anatomy, cartoonish "diversity", ugly hipster clothes, bizarre headcanons. I decided to tackle a piece of Homestuck fanart she did.

It was really hard to pick a piece from her gallery (it's such a rainbow of bad anatomy, composition, and designs), but I eventually went with this one. I almost picked a different one where Dirk was wearing a Rick and Morty tee shirt and everyone looks like they have the downs, but that one wasn't as badly drawn as this one- just really cringe for obvious reasons.

Started off with a redline. Her anatomy is cancer, even taking the fact that the art is stylized into account. The poses were so stilted and awkward I decided to scrap the original and redraw it entirely.

Before anyone pisses and moans about "whitewashing"- the characters don't have a canon race (or so the author decided after being harangued by fans), so if it bothers you that I changed it, go cry into a pillow. The comic was never written with the purpose of being "progressive" or "diverse", and if you want one that is, write it yourself.

Holy shit what terrible whitewashing—you didn't color in the characters so they're literally white! That looks great, though—now I feel disappointed I could recognize the characters in Gelasticat's art at all.

I decided to do a few more Rcdart redraws. Primarily the ones the feature Danny because, holy hell, is he hideous here.

Sorry if the anatomy is a little off in some of these, I wasn't looking at too many references as I worked.

Nice job keeping the stylization without making the features grotesque and awful.

I decided to also join the Gelasticat bandwagon. I particularly hate the way she draws Kanaya. It's a combination of the enormous leaf shaped ears, broken nose, and masculine figure that doesn't go with the character's personality at all that makes me reee to high heaven and back.

I was going to try to stick to the original art style as much as possible at first, but I ended up not doing so. Can you really blame me though? Also there was no real reason why I got rid of his undercut and ear gauges, it's just that both trends personally give me eye cancer so I traded them for something more appealing to me.

Just so you know this character is an Elliot Rodger-esque Supreme Gentleman so you captured who he is far better than our tumblr artist did.

This artist is very talented but I tried to change a couple things that I thought were a little too off, I left some of the anatomical errors the way they are because it was supposed to be a basic face edit.

I'm a huge sucker for threads like this, so I thought I'd try my hand at that mary sue mouse girl from the SJW art thread. I don't consider myself an expert artist or anything, have a lot to learn about anatomy, shading, ect., but I like to think I know a thing or two about making things look aesthetically pleasing, and the mouse girl character seemed like it had some strangled spark of potential for a cute design buried underneath all that tumblr ugly.

Yours is cuter, although I would make the shoulders a bit less broad. (How would someone kept in a concentration camp be that fat if it was shortly after they left, anyway?)
