I think @A Skeleton is saying CP is not genetic but the rare disorder the gremlins have is genetic. That's how they knew potato number 2 had a large chance of also being a potato. So no link to CP.

She's the kind of bitch who gives out pencil erasers and Jack Chick pamphlets.

Or raisins. Nothing disappointed me more as a kid then getting a stupid box of raisins.

Compared to what the gremlins have, I gotta agree with Gwen that cerebral palsy is a super power.

It's the first time I've seen cerebral palsy, which is a horrible affliction, being referred to as a super power. Is she trying to get it to reach the same level as autism? Then again I never thought I'd see the day where people were celebrating the fact that their kids are autistic. But here we are.

I don't get your point. If those two creatures didn't have an injury to their developing brain, who has?

They don't really have developing brains though. It's not s dysfunction of a specific bit of the brain, it's straight up not having a brain. Like how a double amputee can't really have ingrown toenails.

Gotta dress up disabilities as much as possible without saying "disability". Gwen strikes me as the type to freak out at the word disability, in addition to exceptional individual.

Considering that in one of her stories she said she "jumped on the back" of a guy wearing a vest that said retards or spastic or something (who was collecting the cash for them) yeah. I'd say she would, atleast in her mind, coz I don't believe shit of what she says. Would be great tho.

With all her use of oils, she's never used anything actually useful, like Belladonna. I don't know how easy it is to buy in the US but it could help with Lola's not-sleeping, depending on her ability to actually have brainwaves conducive to rest.
Though, she'd probably be allergic to it. Not that that would stop Gwen, since it's natural.

Really though, she should be slapping some Flying Ointment on these kids. That's what I want to see.

That's not quite accurate. They don't have anencephaly which is total lack of a brain other than the brain stem and they don't microhydranencephaly like Jaxon Buell where something in utero caused his developing fetal brain to be all but destroyed, making Jaxon's brain hardly bigger than an anencephalic child's.

We don't know exactly how much brain tissue Lola and Claire have because Gwen wont let doctor's study them as they develop and Lola has never had so much as an mri, but when Claire was born, the doctor diagnosed her as having microcephaly with simplified gyral patterns. Gyri are the ridges of the cerebrum. So we know that Clair was born with a cerebrum, but it was small and poorly developed. There are a few photos online of other children with Asparagine Synthase Deficiency, taken a few days and weeks after birth and they give some idea what Claire and Lola's brains were like when they were born. The kids have brains, but much smaller than normal and malformed. Since the condition causes progressive cerebral atrophy, Lola and Claire's brains are almost surely worse off now than when they were babies, but likely still have some surviving cerebral tissue, so yes they do have brains and yes you could describe them as being severely brain damaged.

I think this is a greater tragedy then if they were just unusaly long lived anencephalic children. With only a brain stem which controls autonomic response, one can be reasonably sure an anencephalic child cannot feel things like pain, fear or suffering.
With Claire and Lola we don't know what, if anything they can feel or experience. They may have enough cerebral tissue to be able to feel pain and fear. From the videos and pictures Gwen has shown, where Lola seems to writhe in discomfort and from and Gwen's description of things like their trip to the dentist, both of the girls do seem to experience both pain and fear. However, that sadly seems to be their only reactions to their environments, I've seen absolutely no evidence that they experience happiness, joy or love...they certainly don't seem to be able to learn. In other words, they appear to have just enough brain to make sure that their lives are a constant, unending source of misery and suffering.

Ah thanks for this I thought they were anencephalic. That's a lot more grim.

Seriously?

Since she seems like the type to underplay her age, does anyone know how old she really is? She and Scott were high school sweethearts so, if she got married at 20, that means she would have given birth to Cal around age 21. Since Cal has to be 18 by now, that means Gwennie is at least 39, if not into her 40's.

Even if the genetic mutation doesn't come up (and I would assume we're looking at a 1-in-4 shot), there are all sorts of other complications (:autism: among them) that can arise in a pregnancy once the woman hits the big 4-0.

Yikes.
Sorry to take so long to reply. Life.
She's 41 now.
