Honestly Neogaf's official site as it currently stands is already in a better state than its been for years. I'm not even sure this is the death of Neogaf anymore so much as it is the death of Neogaf's hugbox culture.

Worth noting: GAF's membership, as a whole, isn't as far left as you might think. Certainly, many of its loudest voices are squarely in the insane left branch of politics, but the bulk of them are a lot more centered than you might expect. In the leaders, you'll find the likes of people who unironically support ANTIFA and argue that a country that twice elected a black man president is a white supremacist nation, but that's far rarer amongst the rank and file.
But that raises the question: Why is GAF so willing to ragemode over the smallest things, if they disagree with it?
Why are they willing to go full retard because someone refused to just blindly swallow every nugget they're fed?
The reason is that the ones who do, indeed, believe in ludicrous horse-shit like Trump going to execute all trannies are the ones in charge, and they've set up a system wherein "virtue signal or be banned" is a fucking commandment. Remember during the Superbowl back in 2016, there were a number of celebrities who were attacked by the mainstream press solely for not virtue signaling enough?
It's the same shit here, and if you won't parrot the attack posts and declare your allegiance to almighty SocJus, you are seen as insufficiently pure at best and a dangerous subversive at worst. Say something the mods don't agree with, and assuming you're not banned, you can expect your fellow gaffots to dig through all your personal information to find out whatever wrongthink you may have engaged in off-site. If you're found out, not only will you be banned, you may be harassed depending on the severity of your thoughtcrimes.
All this cultivates a climate of suspicion, paranoia, fear, and outright xenophobia, and on GAF old hatreds never truly die. The gaffots live in fear of one another and their mod staff alike, whipping themselves into a frenzy because if they can attack the ones the loudest voices deem a threat, they can not only bolster their own rep on the site but can allay the wrath of the overseers for a bit longer.
It's a rather depressing way to internet. At the very end they had driven away pretty much everyone but the most religious adherent to the dogma and those willing to sublimate themselves to avoid being called racist/sexist/ableist/whatever and banned.

It's interesting that Tyler did another idiotic thing when the site went back live.. He made the mods look exactly like normal users, so now literally anyone can be a mod, and any post deletion or ban could have been handed by anyone!
It's like he WANTS to stage a final battle royale for our enjoyment.
I think he stopped posting there about a year ago. Said something about it being too poisonous now.

Problem isn't the number, but instead the noise. I believe not even 1/3 GAF is getting angry about it.
