Small fundie churches do a pretty good job of creating circular firing squads on the right. Back in the 1990s, I remember it was fairly easy to find families that had splintered off and moved away from the "old church" because of scandal and/or the old church decided one too many times that women weren't allowed to participate in a church activity. They never realized the reason they kept having scandals and actual sexism drama is that they created an atmosphere where people constantly tried to find more things to declare haram. This kind of "with us or with the terrorists" mentality used to be more associated with the right. After 9/11 this kind of thinking became really endemic and I think millennials internalized it and turned it left. Incels/MRAs also have a lot of the same kind of fucked up sense of entitlement.
There isn't really an exact thing like SJWs on the right, though. There's bad behavior but it's of a different sort.
These kind of people have always existed. You just had to cherry pick a little more in the past to find them and now they have tons of echo chambers that act as clone factories for this specific kind of idiot (also a terrorist attack that killed thousands of Americans is obviously rather more worthy of getting worked up about than some bullshit imaginary microaggression).
They're eventually going to get around to blaming Kiwi Farms, Gamergate and actual, literal Nazis, and of course, the confused little dears think everything they dislike is all three.
:powerlevel: I think the church my grandparents went to split in half in a flurry of drama every decade.
