Eh, I actually know a gay man who fits this description. He has kids with a chick he actually can’t stand, and isn’t remotely attracted to her. He’s super gay, but people can be really strange. I don’t pretend to try to understand it.

Maybe for her to serve as a “beard”, pretty much as described. Maybe he was trying to “suppress” his gayness or felt ashamed by it, maybe his parents were indeed homophobic and their behavior convinced him that he needed to hide his identity. An overdeveloped sense of personal inferiority, off the basis of environment. Who knows? There could be a slew of reasons.
Yes, it’s a dumb decision, especially in this day and age, but some people still do it. As long as you’ll have humans, you’ll have members of humanity make baffling decisions.

They're not married, though. They just have kids together.
He's very openly gay, but the mom obsessed with him and CONVINCED she can turn him straight. There's more dirty laundry to be had in that hamper, but the general point is that it's a very weird setup, indeed. People do very weird things.

The episode referred to in that post was about Cartman's mom trying to take control of her spoiled out of control son by hiring nannies and eventually Cesar Millan. Because apparently writing a fictional plot about using a dog behaviorist to discipline a child means the creators condone it in real life. Tumblr holds this mentality for every piece of fiction these days. You can't write anything that tackles controversial issues these days without being called a racist/sexist/homophobe/rape apologist/etc.

Meowthkip, fiction can never serve as a negative example. If the villain rapes and murders, you aren't telling the audience "rape and murder are bad things", you're telling the audience that you really enjoy rape and murder! After all, villains are nothing but romantic partners that the same-sex heroes just haven't awakened yet!

Also ever since The AV Club made an article accusing the show of creating alt right trolls and Nazis Tumblr has been jumping on the bandwagon to do the same, conveniently ignoring that one of the creators is Jewish.
