The only reason Disney used Ego was because Starlord’s father in the comic books belongs to an offshoot of the Shi’ar and Disney didn’t own the movie rights back then.
:offtopic:That's interesting since the GOTG cartoon on Disney XD had J'son as Star-Lord's father. James Gunn apparently didn't like the character and thought of this familial relationship "too much like a Star Wars thing because of royalty and all of that."

Not really, they always had Skrulls since they were still featured a lot outside the Fantastic Four, they just couldn't use the Super Skrulls or anything like that. There's a quote floating around where they mention not wanting to waste them as some generic mooks which is why you had the Chitauri instead in the first Avengers film. They're going to be featured in the Captain Marvel movie and this was planned out before Disney bought Fox.

They could use the race just not certain concepts and characters from the race.
You’re right, the skrulls movie rights are co-owned by Marvel and Fox. It’s a moot point now, because they’re both owned by Disney now.

Disney/Marvel own the cartoon rights, just not the live action movie rights. Well, they do now.

Bob, for the last time, stop talking about vidya. It's somehow the thing he's most terrible at in a long list of failings.

And the ghost of Charles Dickens will haunt him tonight for pissing all over A Christmas Carol.

How much of a jackass and a sperg do you have to be to not get the character of Scrooge? He is supposed to be a miser and seems to only really like money to collect it as if it were some arbitrary school in basketball and he needs to run up the scoreboard even though he is an asshole to the whole team. This character is supposed to be simple to understand that even a child could learn about the errors of his ways, but Bob cannot even understand the characterization of Scrooge. I guess this is why he puts so much deep thought into Marvel movies, yet any genre movie that tries to do something truly amazing like The Dark Knight, Inception, Wolf of Wall Street, Logan, Blade Runner 2049, he nearly handwaves them.

I know Scrooge is Inferior Past because he doesn't recognize the geniuses of women and pees, but why the ALL CAPS?

There is no obligation for Scrooge to "be a good capitalist" or to further the cause of capitalism. This is not the point of the story anyway.

YOU SCREAM YOUR POINT IN ALL CAPS WHEN YOU'RE EXTRA RIGHT AND WANT THE WORLD TO KNOW ABOUT IT!!!

In all seriousness, some spergy article writer giftwraps an inane screed about the Ghosts of Christmas being commie parasites and presents it to Bob, and instead of tearing it apart with a thoughtful analysis, he vomits barely coherent ALLCAPS nuttery over it in return.

Here Bob, here's a belated Christmas present:

"The article writer's point is invalid because Dickens wrote Scrooge to be a bad example of a capitalist - one who hoarded money instead of investing it in his business or in the community."

There, that's all you have to say, Bob. You don't even have to credit me. Murray Christmas!

I'll be that guy on this one, as someone who speaks from experience.

Being fat makes the people sitting next to you miserable when you fly coach.

Being tall, or at least long-legged, makes YOU miserable when you fly coach.
So when he flies, Bob makes EVERYONE miserable. It's just like his Twitter feed!

Bobs probably on some goverment watch list as they're worried about him flying a plane into a heavily populated area in the rust belt/Zack snyders house by now and frankly I doubt he's even been more than a few hours away from bwoooostaaaaan in his life considering how middle class American centric his worldview is.

Leave it to Film Robert to come up with the theory that some committee of suits bringing back the comic villain Ego was actually a genius way to deconstruct the Chosen One/hero trope through his relationship with Starlord

Was that his point? The star wars prequels already did that!

I still wonder just what in the hell he meant by this. The console wars was well played capitalism at its best, and mild cultural difference between social circles at worst. And unlike the cola wars, it didn’t have an actual war to back it up to the point that one side was largely veterans and the other was not.
And doesn’t Bob hate capitalism?

He's attempting poetry and metaphor but with Bob's usual skill what would be wry hyperbole is just... silly.

To be technical, I think your point there is the same as his. Only you're more coherent. And charming. Probably better looking too.

As someone who never watched it growing up, is South Park as big of a deal as Bob makes it out to be? Bob always makes it sound like some revolutionary thing that changed the way everyone looks at the world but I thought the only notable thing is with how often they push the censors and that's about it.

Well, it WAS edgy, back when edgy meant you might actually be deplatformed, as in if both network and cable wouldn't touch you, you were effectively silenced. These days, you have a show too shocking for TV? You just stream it on the internet if you had a big enough audience, or open a YouTube channel and Patreon account.

Plus audiences are burned out on what passes for a "shock" the grossout cartoon is kinda like the white trash Jerry Springer guests in that regard, it had it's heyday, but it's passe' today. We aren't refusing to watch out of moral indignation, we're just BORED of it.

The dynamic has changed so that baiting the censors and moralists really isn't that big a deal anymore, you're not really in danger.

South Park being lauded for edginess today is someone thinking a tightrope walker is in danger when the rope is only 1 foot off the ground, yeah, he may fall, but he'll get right back up again.

I think Bob hates it is because the tend to be in the middle of the road and make fun of both liberals and conservatives compared to The Simpsons or Family Guy. When I was in middle school a lot of kids watched it but manly because it was so edgy. If kids are told they are not allowed to watch something it makes them want to watch it more. South Park did adopt a sort of ending episodes with a message which may have made Bob think it changed a generation of thinking. If anything it stuck with people because of dirty humor and making fun of everyone instead of just one group of people. I think some people like South Park because of the balance of making fun of both liberals and conservatives.

So you're praising George Lucas for creating the idea of a fuccboi.
