I am a complete outsider to card games.. But I think that Jeremy is trying too hard to make it into a "gate".. This is ultimately a niche hobby that became a shell of itself during the past few years, and whether that is due to SJWs or not is up to interpretation.
I feel that the time has already passed to stem the tide of SJWism, and it's kinda too late now, the fanbase is far too small to sustain a political split, because unlike Vidya, this isn't a worldwide billion dollar industry, where capitalists will sway to the side that spends more money. The focus here is not on growing the brand, but on losing the least amount of potential customers as possible and controlling the bloodletting enough to keep the company going. Though I honestly don't understand why those companies would hire people who actively dislike the stuff they're selling.. It just boggles the mind.
You can say the same for the Comics industry, which has and still experiences its own "gate", but the difference here is that comics are a hot commodity in the movies business right now, which makes publishers very protective of their properties' long-term health, and makes them want to transition movie watchers into Comic readers (a kid who buys Captain America comics and toys right after watching the latest movie is the exact reason the word 'synergy' is used in business circles). Those two things are simply not there for card games that aren't tie-ins to other forms of media.
CCG's (especially like Magic) much like Tabletop war games create a lot of money from a small userbase of users considering they release a new full set of cards every three to four months. Just letting the SJW worm their tendrils is a bad idea because like with comics the userbase will either leave to another CCG (probably a Japanese one as the Japanese have a immunity to this), leave the hobby altogether or stick to playing vidya based CCG's like Hearthstone or Eternal.
There's alot more money in these games invested by the end-user than comics or videogames and the userbase is far smaller due to the costs so they would more be defensive to SJW takeover. Randomized card packs are bullshit anyway as it leads to scalpers selling certain cards for hundreds of dolans turning the game from being based around luck and deck construction and understanding the synergy between cards to who can spend the most money to get the best cards.
