Jeremy is a fucking sped dude, I get it, always known.

But its pretty clear shit ain't being managed by wotc and even one or two sex offenders puts to lie that wotc take the utmost care in player safety and don't monitor shit like they should.

To be fair, how the hell could they? Literally anyone can become a judge. You pay $1 to get a DCI card under your name and register for the judge program under that name and number. You take a couple online tests and then it shoots an email to level 2 judges in the area that you say you're in. They email you and schedule a in-person interview and theory test. You pass the tests and interview and you made it in. To require background checks and maintained rosters of judges would be an extreme hassle and not cost effective.

As far as judge promos go, even judging small events will get you SOMETHING, not sealed product, but cards. Sealed product usually gets gifted if you judge side events at a grand prix or invitational. If you judge the main event, you get a lot of high value cards in addition to the sealed product.

Jeremy is literally trying to play a "think of the children" card and running the nightly news "pedophiles playing cards with YOUR CHILDREN? learn more about the latest pedophile satanist trading card craze after these commercials" line. I've only had one job requiring me to do a background check and it was for a government job. Now we're going to put some crazy rule about digging deep into volunteer positions for a trading card game?

Jeremy is grasping at whatever he can, and by doing so he dilutes what possible narratives he could be attempting. He sounds like a crazy person, especially when he says shit like "I don't know if this is real, but it's about the point". He's said so many different things I can't even keep up, it doesn't help that his videos are long-winded and redundant as fuck (at least Sargon can make a point).

Jeremy should have pushed the idea (harder) that WoTC was taking peoples MTG Online cards for subjective interpretations of rules dealing with offsite stuff, and that others are at risk. He can also complain about selective DCI ban enforcement, but he needs to gain support inside the MTG community for something actionable rather than just supportive sentiment about his wrong-think.

Jeremy is just embarassing to listen to, even with a sympathetic ear and he is his own worst enemy when it comes to getting his hypothetical #MagicGate off the ground.

If you are registering for anything with a companies or the public interest at heart rather than yourself, you should have some small form of background check. Cost effectiveness goes out the window when you are printing cards for very cheap and selling them for massive amounts. I think someone mentioned Printing money here or on a live stream, I can't really remember tbh but even a 2-3% price increase on cards to cover the judge background checks would not be that much of an issue. The funding is there if they want to do it.

What you're suggesting is that WoTC have paid employees be judges and to get rid of this ad-hoc volunteer cardboard kickback system. I don't think they'll do this.

Someone shot this persons video to me last night, because pedos.

Beyond the insane BS and the manipulative nature of the claims, there is a kernel of truth about a safety concern. Any voluntary position that is directly related to working with children always requires a background check. It is standard. Sometimes, it’s even more intense than that. Big Brothers Big Sisters? There is a huge interview process.

The reason is because sexual predators who target children will embed themselves in places where children can be found. They go out of their way to appear like everyone else. They purposely look to obtain positions of trust to further their facade.

If this stupid game doesn’t ask volunteers to submit to a cheap, instacheck that anyone can do then they deserve ridicule. This guys motivation is personal, and off putting. It muddies the message that there could be an actual problem.

I think that they should have some form of background check pushed forward to whatever section or group they have monitoring their game if they are getting paid or not.
Would they do this? Idk if they would or would not. But it would fix problems like this from happening so it is fucking stupid not to. All it takes is an event like a group of kids getting molested by judges over a few stores to get picked up by a news agency and shit will hit the fan.

Other card games have background checks to be judges don't they?

The result of this would mean less judges and less tournaments. They can push the cost of background checks to the applying judges (and they eat the cost of logistics). That's requiring at least one full time employee to justify to corporate.

If WoTC was "true" to their origins they'd say they're not for little kids because it's a serious card game about Satan and shit. Like, supervise your fucking preteen kid and don't leave them under the supervision of a volunteer card game judge who specializes in nerd disputes. Kids come into contact with people all the time and by demanding everyone go through background checks before coming within 20 meters, it will results in kids being banned from places and less things happening period.

Jeremy is fucking huffing and puffing with like a dead man switch video.
Anyways here's his alternative channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC577SIgTe1cjpdOSLADWNDw/featured

If Safety is their priority, then less tournaments and less judges would be fine if there are potential sexual predators around. I mean, Elaine sure did make it sound like Safety was their main concern in her damage control post.

I am not concerned about like under 10's playing because I don't think they can join tournaments and if they do, they will be with relatives or responsible adults, the card game from a quick look is 13 and up which is an age in which teens are with groups of other teens or on their own. Which would be the targeted group for predators as they are a vulnerable group.

Lol, this thread is a hilarious dumpster-fire.
Truer words are rarely spoken.

I figure we should take a moment, and go over a synopsis of what madness has been going on since the initial Cosplayer shitstorm kicked us into this new wave of 'Tism:

1. Jeremy got banned via an organized outrage mob, who, lacking the ability to ban him for anything solid, inflated his generally being an angry sped until they said that this some constituted legitimate offense, going so far as to use out-of-context tweets as evidence of wrongdoing.

2. In response, Jeremy decides to weaponize his Autism and starts gathering examples of various high-profile MTG vloggers and community members (most notably the ones that attacked him in the first place) getting away with openly violating WotC's own guidelines. He posts plety of examples, ranging from people who sent death threats to his family to people trying to get him blacklisted from local game stores.

3. Jeremy's various opponents respond to his evidence of them being harassers by doxing him, threatening his wife, threatening his cat, and sending threats to hobby shops he frequents. Jeremy does the right thing for once, gets Law Enforcement involved, and stops mentioning certain individuals who may or may not be suspects in this.

4. Jeremy opens an anonymous email account encouraging whistleblowers and people "in the know" to share their own knowledge and evidence of WotC showing blatant double-standards like his and other cases of flagrant lawbreaking. In short order, it becomes apparent that WotC has no screening for pedophiles or sex offenders, and that there's been several in the Judge program who were allowed to remain in said program after their crimes became known. It is worth noting that having positions like the Judges for events WITHOUT background checks is, by several accounts, actually illegal across most of North America, leading Jeremy to start sperging hard, attracting media attention. He outs like 10 accounts rapid-fire, with almost double that number he can't verify, with more anonymous tips and evidence piling up by the day.

5. Additional offenses come to light, including WotC's Judge program only temporarily suspending a Judge for multiple verified cases of sexual harassment (and not banning him for it) with the foreknowledge that he'll be a judge again when "he's learned his lesson," a convicted rapist not being banned from the program until an outage mob succeeded in getting him banned, and a player who threatened to rape a WOTC employee, who was banned, and then subsequently unbanned without the rape threat recipient's knowledge or consent based on the say-so of corporate - all of which are provably more fucked up than Jeremy and all his Autism combined.

6. WotC quietly removes several people Jeremy outed from the Judge program and puts several more on the DCI banlist to save face; they are caught in the attempt due to MTG players following Jeremy's example, weaponizing their Autism, and archiving fucking everything. WotC has no comment about anything Jeremy's brought up until much later, systemically denying everything and going into full lockdown mode and lying openly about both Jeremy and the evidence he dug up (while actively trying to bury it).

7. During the interview livestream, someone organized a mass-flagging campaign to get Jeremy's channel taken down, shutting down the main avenue he had for bringing forth evidence to the public. At this point it's abundantly clear that someone does not want this Autist speaking.

8. KIA exposes a group of WotC cronies who are actively trying to blacklist Jeremy from even attending events and performing additional steps to try to get him shut down.

Gamergate this shit ain't, but I ain't gonna lie: A lot of what's panned out here seems plucked right from the Autism Holy War. I doubt this is going to blow up as big or as hard, but it'll be really interesting to see how much salt this generates from both sides when things spiral forward from here.

My theory on what's going to happen is this:

This is going to continue rolling and digging up worse and worse examples of how WotC's wrist-deep in shit due to its own policies and epistemic capture by the usual suspects. From my own experience with MTG's community, you could find shit here for years without even scratching the surface, so you can also expect considerable Atsimu here.

We'll see a lot of salt from spergy Magic players about this (so if you want some salt there, don't worry, your appetite will be sated), but far more salt from those involved with WotC cronies and those trying to push back against Jeremy's being a noisome sperg: The standard operating procedure for entrenched ideologues like these is always to overreach and they usually aren't anywhere near as intelligent as they like to think they are, so things often explode in their face with hilarious flair (such as when one of Jeremy's ongoing attackers, The Mana Leek, fucking doxed himself).

It's going to be absolutely retarded, but also very entertaining, no matter how you view it.

Does anybody have a screencap of the porn? I saw the vid before it was taken down but didn't notice it, it sounds hilarious to me

This entire debacle is proof that the magic community is filled with socially awkward dumbasses. Sprankle is a Sped, Jeremy is a Sped, WOTC is a dumpster fire, the community had a collective aneurysm over the whole thing, and a bunch of pedo judges got exposed as a cherry on top of the shitcake. Good lord this game is annoying to play. When you get good at it its hard to play on the kitchen table with friends when you're constantly having to correct them on the rules, and playing with other skillful players sucks because you instantly get dunked in community drama. Bleh.

Not to mention how goddamn expensive it is just to play your pet strategy.

Fewer tournaments as in...fewer Grand Prixs, Pro Tour Qualifiers, State, and World campionships where they take a direct cut of the entry fees? That's not gonna happen. Fewer lower level events like Friday Night Magic which takes place every week? Then you kill off games stores.

As far as age goes, it's not uncommon for a kids mom and dad to drop them off at the store and say have fun. It's about active parenting at that point.

The claim that's been made is that basically every other card game on the planet mandates background checks on their judges. Pokemon, Yu-gi-oh, etc. And hilariously Pokemon is also published by WotC, so it's not like they have zero experience with the matter. It looks like they're just choosing not to in order to cut corners and save some bucks. They were plenty quick to run to the virtue signal and ban people for being harmless spergs on twitter, 'cause that was free, but spend some money to make sure a 'local tournament' isn't taking place in a pedovan? Whoa now, let's not be hasty.

I was joking, ofc they wont do that.
My original comment was a dig that the bint said that Safety was the main concern yet don't take the steps one would to make sure safety was the main concern.

As for age, anyone who lets their kid under the age of 10 run around a store with people sometimes twice/three times the age deserves to have something happen to their kid.

I stopped watching these things like after like the first 3, but here's a new one.

Alright, I watched it. Jeremy is now specifically going after the marketing VP Elain Chase. Talking about her LinkedIn profile. Then tries to point out DCI ban evasion by showing some roster with duplicate names. I like the idea that there's only one person named Vincent Ng in Kuala Lumpur, or one John Perryman in all of the US who are DCI registered.

If that date on the right column is a banning date, each pair was banned on the same date. So John Perryman got banned in Indiana, then ran very very fast to Virginia to do something to get banned the same day? Or maybe he was someone who got banned for saying something mean on twitter, and in the process of banning him they found he'd made a second account after moving and banned them both? I don't get what if any significance there is to that.

His whole point was saying "here's obvious DCI evasions that aren't being enforced". If everyone of these lists are banned it goes against his point, unless I'm misunderstanding his point, which I might be since it's all incredibly nebulous.

Remember earlier when I said Jeremy will do things that apparently even he doesn't seem to know what he wants or expects to happen? This looks like that. It seems as though he's just throwing up anything that could be viewed by MagicGaters as "evidence" so it looks like he's hot on some kind of case, and less about actually making any case.

Irony of course is that amidst all this Autistic flailing, he's managed to find a few particularly juicy nuggets of nonsense that someone apparently thought was worthwhile to silence his ass over, ergo ensuring he'd keep doing it. Glad we're keeping an eye on this shit.
