I do agree that, beyond the memes, there’s something else we don’t know about Cosmo’s trooning out.

But I think many of his older fans can attest to the fact that he was basically the best thing in the speedrunning community back then. Playing games fast for a living is special in itself, but Cosmo was actually relatively normal, which is why his current state is strange, and people might attribute it to shit like John Numbers.

Yeah I feel the same way. Cosmo's descent into the Madness of Narcissa seems like the origin story of a comic book villain. Spergy but good hearted guy has a series of shitty things happen to him and now he's saying he's a woman, ranting like a lunatic, and doing drugs. Sad shit for someone who was a somewhat respectable autist before.

I think there has been recent direct confirmation from Cosmo that the dissolution of the Adrian relationship was a huge starting force for the transition. He said the day after the breakup he went and got full body laser hair removal.
Not saying it's the only reason but it definitely was a big enough factor that pushed the whole decline
