(just give me the off-topic rating lol) but I'm just stating my thoughts as someone who used to be on tumblr (for the lulz). It's a community where if your characters or interpretations are "white, thin, straight" you're shunned (because equality, lul) and more "diverse" art is praised as Godly. A lot of this SJW art is just art made by teens who want to be included and praised by their peers... or maybe they're just afraid of people flaming them for being "racist" because they drew canonically Japanese characters their skin color and NOT ambiguously brown. SJWs don't want to hear this, but racial bending is NOT equality and it will not contribute to equality especially in the case of anime characters. If anything, racial bending just gives the artist a white savior complex even though those characters were originally Japanese.

The logic behind this art is astounding. Just draw for yourself, not for a community of teens who are stuck in a state of neo-progressiveness.

My Japanese friends are whiter than I am.

It's almost like these artists are drawing PoC without looking at real ones and using stereotypical traits.

I don't watch much of Ok Ko but tumblr loose their shit over the female characters designs especially to Enid. They bitch about how it's sexual that Enid have a curvy body type for a black teen and its ""pedophilia"", even though she looks 18-19 with a full time job. Also complains her outfit is to inappropriate for a teenager. Here's a kicker, there's a character named Rad that have a buff muscle body type for a teen and wears the same outfit as Enid. Tumblr don't care about Rad design because he's a fucking male character. I've watched my fair share of this show (and :autism: showing, I do enjoy doing so...) - and I'm glad I'm ignorant of this "fanbase". Each and every one of these is insultingly grotesque and almost... ALMOST make me ashamed to have bothered, now.

Ugh, I always hate fuckers like this for how blatantly self serving they are. Go through the feed of any of them and you're guaranteed to find tweets/reblogs/whatever of them jumping on the bandwagon to make fun of the artists like Rory, or plebcomics, or the artists who work on Steven Universe, or any of the other people who've been deemed "acceptable targets" for ridicule, while at the same time throwing the biggest bitch fits you've ever seen at the slightest whiff of someone sending even the gentlest of ribbings their way. And if anyone ever points out the hypocrisy of this, they'll perform all sorts of mental gymnastics to rationalize it as being different somehow.

I realize I'm a minority on this front, but I've always felt that any sort of art people put on the internet, including your own, is open to any and all sorts of criticism, and if you can't handle that then you probably shouldn't be an artist. (On the flip side of this, if you can't take criticism then you have no business dissing other people's art.) These people are like if comedians went around saying people shouldn't make jokes about them and claimed hecklers at clubs were harassment.

It's not about "defending" poor oppressed artists from mean words on the internet, it's a bunch of narcissistic twats defending their over inflated egos.

I learn this is community college from classmates of mine during my first year, "you can't make fun of other if you can't make fun of yourself". People can't insult you if you already insult yourself. Plus it makes you remember your flaws instead of being more of a hypocrite.
The same can apply with art, you need critique your own artwork because nothing is perfect even the best artists. You starts to realize recurring mistake, you can fix it. However, the Problem with most artists never learn nor experience a negative critique. there is a difference that and insults/bad critique in my opinion aka negative critique will tell the major mistakes in artwork and give solution to fixes it while insults just spit on you like an Ugandan Knuckles. Heck even over praise can be just as bad especially from people who can't see the major flaws

I am bit peeved that these people who feel the need to tell people that we shouldnt critique the doki doki art are the same people who do witch hunts on artists who happened to draw a character slighty wrong like the ohnips girl who did the genderbend of dream daddy or zami00 who drew Rose Quartz slightly thin.

Its like if you want to be on tumblr's good side then you have to draw the characters totally out of their canon representation, but god forbid if you do draw them as they are in canon but slightly tweek something such as weight or sex.

Well you see it's mostly because they think they are being counter culture revolutionaries who will change they way we see art and the world by uglifying it with exaggerated ( in a bad way) facial features, making everyone super brown/islamic/gender special, a fuckton of pastel, and a whole lotta :autism:.

It's one thing to want to be inclusive or redraw characters in a more realistic style, even race and genderbending can be rad as hell when done well.
