I'm guessing it's the flu. The dude spends most of his life in the house away from people, his coddled immune system isn't up to par. The virus probably walked in like they owned the place.

Being the pathological liar he is, I always just assume his "I'm so sick I can't stream" tweets are him being too much of a weasel to just he doesn't feel like doing his "job" that day -- or trying to cover for a hangover from too much gin the night before.

You can really tell Phil was banking on people watching that DSP Tries It, seeing as how it has actual editing in it, complete with elevator music at the end. Despite touting "raw and unedited" as being something to be proud of, this one video alone proves that he's capable of doing minimal editing for things other than reviews and that his usual lack of it is merely down to laziness.

I feel like Phil's reached the point where he's so desperate for money that he tries to swallow his pride and "go with the meme" every now and then, but his ego doesn't let him keep it up. One day he's announcing a truce with detractors, the next it's back to Salt City.

The individual mandate is gone but Obamacare is alive and well. Although I've never understood that meme "thanks Obama" regarding health insurance.

It's still not too hard of a challenge though. For example, almost all of his Ghostbusters (2009) let's play videos are missing the toxic negativity his vids and streams are plagued with today (well, as long as you don't call his occasional burping / immature big boy talk as negativity). There are some episodes mixed in between where he looses his shit (mostly boss fights iirc), but to be honest, looking at these vids from back then, he almost seems like a happy-go-lucky clone of the misanthropic wreck that Phil Burnell is today.

There's a classic edited video of 3 fuckups during the Ghostbusters playthrough... and he's fairly calm, just blind & dumb when he gets lost.

Another great example is in Arkham Asylum. Yes, he spends 30 minutes being an idiot, but he never rages hard, never blames the game, it's developers, it's fans, it's controls, etc.
