Then again, the girls aren't with a disability so I see no point on them texting the police when they can call.
I think that's why the mechanic bothers me so much. Those systems are made for people who otherwise CAN'T call police under normal circumstances due to imparement. These girls are capable of actually calling the cops, but instead they call Dadcop instead because they have full-blown autism.

Is his fanbase starting to drop yet? Like is his Patreon getting lower? I'm wondering how long it will take for his fans to get tired of waiting for a real update and give up
The Patreon dropped to mere $4117 a week ago, which is the lowest since June 2016. Since Patreon numbers are meaningful only at the beginning of a month, we'll see if the trend continues when March starts.

Google Trends shows a downward trend, although there was a small uptick recently, probably because Alex squoze out two features that aren't easter eggs. Mongolia still loves YanSim.

The Youtube channel was getting tons of subscriptions in 2016, but in 2017 the subscription rate dropped to 2015 levels. The total watch time isn't dropping on a long timescale, but the January was significantly worse that any of the 12 months before that.
The subscription rate oscillates around 1000 schmucks per day, but for some reason Alex lost 371 subscribers on January the 11th and then got only 426 on the 12th. I'm not sure what caused that but it's few days after the TB partnership thing got very fishy and just after these were posted:
https://www.reddit.com/r/yandere_si...w_much_does_yanderedev_alex_actually_work_on/
https://www.reddit.com/r/yandere_si..._trying_to_reply_to_someones_post_but_i_keep/

The Twitter account is doing fine, but it doesn't matter. Alex doesn't tweet that much anyway.

The Twitch channel got suddenly popular in the early 2017, but the popularity has since fallen down. Maybe because he's a shit streamer.

He compares YS with other one-man developer games, and the time it took them to complete. However, he fails to realize that those games he listed held a certain 'professional quality of work' during those development years which isn't even comparable to the amateurish quality of work eva has done in 4 years on YS.

Also, one interesting thing about this post on his patreon is that he flip-flops between the idea of YS being solely one-man with volunteer workers. It's the same thing as saying, "I did this work all by myself with some help!". So, did eva himself make the the 3D models and animations? the 2D art? the environment textures? the music? the website? the launcher? No, then why even mention the 'one-man developer' moniker. All he has contributed to the project so far in 4 years is demand professional level assets from volunteers, yet can only write amateur written scripts--not even procedures with any ounce of algorithms, but just using simple API-calling scripts; at the same he gets upset at amateur looking assets not even realizing his own work is also amateur at best. If he wants to show he is better than MikeZ, then he needs to write his own engine in C/C++/Java and write the actual rendering engine, physics engine, memory management, APIs, etc.

Furthermore, YS in its current state has the equivalence of a project for a college student taking a beginner computer graphics elective. The only difference is that the college project is completed in 1 semester, and the student wouldn't show it to anyone as it serves as a learning experience.

Even if he does complete YS who-knows-when, the game itself will not change anyone's perception in how he handles a project's SDLC.
It's safe to say, that eva has completely and utterly wasted his life doing failed projects because he didn't acknowledge why the projects failed in the first place.

I noticed that the games that took the longest to make: Cuphead and Owlboy, had tons of high-quality handmade graphics assets and it's drawing all those things that took that much time. A Hat in Time is also full of assets, but those were easier to make.

Yandere Simulator? Most of the assets were premade and bought from an asset store. The rest was either stolen or begged away from slaves.

YanSim has been in works for almost 4 years already, so the clock is ticking. Stardew Valley is a good comparison, since it's a game that features both social elements and fighting. A single guy coded the whole game, made most of the assets, and finished it in slightly more than 4 years. YanSim looks like Stardew Valley at the moment it got sent to Steam Greenlight, after mere months of work on it.

Doing some math I therefore estimate YS will be finished around 2066. Alex's final mouseclick in his life will be the button "publish on Steam" and while he's drawing his final breath, he will receive one final email:
"Publication to Steam failed. Reason: program crashes at launch."

Nah. Nobody should be subjected to that given how fast the industry moves these days and how many good middlewares are out there already. He just either needs to learn his shit or stop being bitchy every time anyone else comments on his code or tries to fix it like MikeZ and the Tinybuild guy did. Right now he's trying to build a skyscraper on a foundation built out of wet sand which is visibly starting to show cracks and he's just stalling and doing nothing but 'easter eggs' either because he has absolutely no idea how to fix the foundations or he has absolutely no idea how to implement Osana's behavior (hint : a state machine would be a good place to start!)

A good example of a game that was absolutely saved from bad programmers by the bad programmers accepting help early on is Terraria. Back when it first came out there was a little community for decompiling and modding it since there was no formal API, and I took a look inside at one point. It was much, MUCH worse than Yandere is.

So Terraria's devs didn't understand the concept of externally-stored data and every time it needed to do something involving setting up an item, you'd see something like this:

Item item = new Item();
item.id = id;
switch(id)
{
case 0:
item.name = "Wood Pickaxe";
item.power = 1;
item.description = "Imagine 300 of these cases; that's Terraria 1.1.";
break;
case 1:
item.name = "Iron Pickaxe";
item.power = 2;
item.description = "I'm getting a headache just remembering this";
break;
......

}

There were at least 3 copies of that switch statement with 300+ cases each, and all of them had like 20+ fields being set in each case.

I haven't kept up with it but I've heard through the grapevine that each of the major updates completely removed and redid things that were screwed up in similar fashions. This is the point YanSim should be at now, but it isn't because why pay people to fix your shit when you can just sit on the money for no reason?

The plan seems to be dragging his feet until computers that can parse through his if-then statements fast enough to get the frame rate to an acceptable level are invented.

Anyone got to his SoC stream and pick up anything worth sharing?
I’ve skimmed through his Shadow of the Colossus stream and it was mostly boring.
I skipped to the end and found this gem where he’s discussing the ending.
Sorry for the audio, but there was nothing to look at on the screen at the time.
Since he speaks kinda slowly, I made a transcript.
Alex said:
And Mono is the name of the girl. So I guess Wander, he becomes a baby. Spoilers, I just beat the game, we’ll be discussing spoilers now. Wander reverts back into an infant form. Wander and Mono are trapped in this land, this forbidden land, with no one coming for them and no way to get out. So it’s just gonna be Mono and Wander living together in this new land.

And in the sequel, in Ico, there is, like, a village, where every so often a horned child is born. And if you’re born with horns you’re taken to this witch and you’re sacrificed to the witch or whatever. So, like, there’s a village where horned children are born. It’s a gene, it’s a hereditary gene that you could have horns. So there must have been a progenitor that had horns.

That progenitor must be Wander. So, Wander is the ancestor of the horned children that see in Ico. Which means that Wander had kids. So, baby Wander grows up, fucks a woman, gets her pregnant and they have a bunch of kids.

Who though? There’s only one woman in there. MONO! Who’s his adoptive mother at this point. I mean, Mono is not his mother right now, but she’s gonna be. So little baby… So Mono… She’s raising baby Wander, then baby Wander grows up and then he fucks his adoptive mother Mono and then has a bunch of descendants and they are the horned children from Ico.

There’s some… It’s like incest shota-on-MILF. That’s what this game leads up to.

What? You’re saying the horned child simply escaped and banged someone other than Mono? Nonononono! ‘Cause if you use that reasoning, then I don’t get to rationalize that there’s straight shota/MILF incest kid/adoptive child incest… I don’t fucking know, dude.

Well, I mean, let’s say you’re a woman, alright, a WOMAN and you have NEEDS, YOU HAVE NEEDS, like a woman does, and you’re all alone in this place right here. This is your home. This is where you live. And you’ll be alone for the rest of your life ’cause there’s no fucking way out. There’s no way to leave this place. You cannot escape. You’ll never see another human for as long as you live.

But you have this boy. Well, I mean, just use your fucking imagination. It’s obvious where it goes from there.

No, let’s say Mono was 16 when this game takes place. And then Wander grows up and he’s a 16 year old boy. Mono would be 32. She’s a MILF. So it’s like she’s a MILF. Mono grows up, becomes a sexy MILF and she’s the only woman in existence from his perspective. So, I mean, that’s just how it goes!

It’s like that Bible story where the man and his two daughters were the only survivors of this place that got destroyed.

That’s the sequel: Shadow of the MILF.

And then, of course… So they have kids, right? So Wander and Mono have kids. And they obviously don’t think incest is a taboo or they never would have kids in the first place. So their children probably go on to have incestuous kids as well, because that’s how they’d populate this land and this land will have a new population and then Ico would take place here.
Feel free to rate Islamic, because I ain’t going to heaven now.

Sounds like Alex here has been reading a little too many MILF x shota hentai these days. That's another fetish to add to the list.
But seriously, does it ever occur to Alex that not everything is like in his Japanese hentais and that I don't know, maybe some women can live for years without fucking whatever that has a pulse like he has for the past 29 years of his life. Good going there on that game theory, Yandaddy.

If it ever did, then Yandere Simulator's story and characters would never be as contrived and stupid as they are now.

I really don't think it can seeing as he views pretty much all women as sex objects.

That's some 16 year old fan fiction bs right there. And he's over 30? I'm just glad he didn't go for bestiality.
I'm predicting two new rivals:
  • Osana's mother
  • Osana's dog
