Brianna Wu / John Walker Flynt - "Biggest Victim of Gamergate," Failed Game Developer, Failed Congressional Candidate

So true John, there is no place in hell hot enough for people who leave their dogs out to freeze to death because they want attention online.

Since I don't think Wu is taking her dogs to the dog park, I assume that's Wu's lawn... And Jesus fuck, I feel some sort of mystical lawn-druid by comparison.
That dimly-lit room looks packed to the rafters, John.

Nah, the camera is pointed at the lights, it's underexposed. Like Brianna's campaign.

This is ridiculous on so many levels that it's hard to enumerate them all.

First off, if there's already an off the peg software package that does a thing then there's no conceivable way that you're going to save money by essentially starting a software business with one client to do that exact same thing.

You could make an argument that the government is a large enough consumer of software engineering that it makes sense to have an in house team which would do the same job that the large software contracting firms would traditionally do for the government. There's a balance to be struck between the control doing it in house gains you vs. the market oversight that a publicly traded, for profit company is subject to. You would never, ever want to employ people to do small fry shit like point of sale software or digital signage though. It's just a waste of money.

Secondly, if you're making the argument that the government should be swallowing large areas of private industry, there are literally dozens of areas where the government has a more legitimate role than software engineering. Health care would be the big starting point, and I think you could probably make an argument for industries like commercial ship building and real estate construction before you got far enough down the list that software engineering was a realistic prospect.

Don't even get me started on the continued idiocy in the threaded replies ("THIS COULD RUN ON A RASBERRY PI!") It's depressing that there are still people who think Wu is a real software engineer while she puts her foot in her mouth every time she broaches the subject.

A friend who knows I'm obsessed with Wu says that she posted about writing the blog post on her personal FB page and someone is trying to talk her out of believing Warren's story. She dug her heels in of course. I can not wait to read this blog post and find out the story as filtered through two levels of crazy.
Stephen won’t respond to John’s blog but all he has to do is say “A man working for Brianna Wu’s campaign, and who’s been stalking me and my family for months making claims were related, harassed me at a caucus event.”

Throw it back in John’s court to clean up the mess and humiliate him for making baseless accusations.

I wonder if there are things to know about Warren besides him being crazy. The warning sounds like there might be specific things? I asked my friend to keep me updated.

Considering he's done shit like this in the past:

I wouldn't be surprised if he's known around the community as a loon way before he got involved with Brianna's affairs. I'm sure he's known as "that weird guy" that people try to stay far away from the moment he enters a room.

I'm just curious where the hell he got his obsession with Stephen Lynch from. It really looks like it came out of nowhere. But autism needs no explanation I guess. Anyway, thanks for the update.

Knock knock
Who is it
Massachusetts State Police, we’d like a few words with you regarding threatening behavior by your “campaign staff” against a US Congressman.

It'd be the U.S. Capitol Police that does the knocking if the threat is serious. You harass federal officials, you attract the attention of federal law enforcement agencies.

Unfortunately I think everyone is being a bit too optimistic and I doubt we'll see Stephen respond no matter how many times she tags him like an idiot. Brianna is not worth his time, she is a nobody. And unlike Brianna, Lynch has actual work to do and doesn't spend every waking minute of the day on Twitter responding to tweets. The most hopeful thing I can see happening is a radio/TV station picking up Bri's story and deeming it newsworthy enough to investigate the claims by contacting Lynch himself.

Lynch will never mention the name Briana Wu publicly unless it's in the context of illegal threats or harassment. There's absolutely no reason to raise the profile of someone that will get 5% of the vote.

Warren Lynch embodies everything that you do not want in a campaign employee. You want someone who has a strong work ethic, mentally stable, and focused on implementing a strategy that will win an election. You don't want an unhinged ideologue that cares more about making a point than winning an election.

You're actually really close on the quote, but it'd be more like: “A man working for an opponent's campaign, someone who has been stalking and harassing me and my family for months, made unhinged, personal attacks at a caucus event.” No reason to name the other person or the campaign.

Am I the only one who considers Warren Lynch Brianna's Idea Guy, except totally unironic and even more embarrassingly pathetic?
I don't think John is actually taking ideas though. Warren is just going around saying "Yes we support that" to anything that'll get a signature. I'd be very surprised if we ever see John mention ranked choice voting, for example.

So basically you want Stephen to make shit up like Brianna does?

While Warren is a fucking psycho, he is politically active, a passionate progressive and working of behalf of Brianna. As an elected official you can't claim stalking if someone is reading up on you.

All Stephen has to do is say that he heard that there was a member of the audience who was claiming they were related. He simply talked to the person to find out who his family was because he had never heard of the man, and the man got angry when asked about his mother and started shouting at him.

That answer fits in exactly with what Warren's FB posts said, but it has the advantage that Warren's FB posts make him look like a deluded idiot.

Those luxury cars ain't gonna register themselves.

Using Minnesota as an example, no, the government can't. MN is pouring tens of millions of dollars into fixing a failed new software system for DMV work that has a fairly simple job. It has never functioned properly and they can't even hold anyone accountable, just hire more cronies to flail around wasting tax dollars.

No but if I recall, I might be wrong, wasn’t it several weeks ago John or someone else claimed the Wu’s had Stephen Lynch’s cousin working on the campaign? Stephen’s been around MA politics for a very long time, so who knows when Warren became infatuated with the idea they are related. To me, it seems like it was before Warren started working for John. It’s possible he’s been making this claim for awhile.

True, but a mindless believer that screams "for Brianna Wu!" as he throws himself at the enemy must bring tears of joy to Wu's eyes.
