why bother giving you an autism rating? this is basically sperg central, go wildSonic the Hedgehog, as a series, has had more hits than misses. People keep going back to Sonic 06 as the ultimate example of the series failure, but that game is pretty exceptional compared to those that came before and since. I've even seen internet commentators make the point that the current crop of games are so bad that they retroactively ruin the Genesis trilogy, which is just pants-on-head exceptional even if you don't like 3D Sonic.
Just to back my point up, I'm going to rank every main game post-Genesis, based on both my own opinion and critic reviews, and we'll see what the hit to miss ratio is.
Sonic Adventure: Critically acclaimed at the time, some say it hasn't aged well but most still seem to regard it as a good game. It's not my favorite, but I'd give it a solid 7/10. Hit
SA2: Also critically acclaimed, the HD release a few years ago was also well received. Easily one of my favorite games in the whole series. Hit
Heroes: The closest 3D Sonic has ever come to truly recapturing the spirit of the Genesis games. Critics loved it, but unfortunately it's never been rereleased so I have no idea what they would think of it now. In my book, it's second only to Sonic 3. Hit
06: A total disaster, and thanks to Game Grumps' memetic LP it became the launching point for all the "Sonic was never good" BS that still gets copypasted all over the internet. I enjoy it in the same sense that I like Jurassic Park Trespasser; it's such a train wreck that it's fascinating to experience firsthand. Miss
Unleashed: There are two totally different versions of this game. The version released for Xbox 360 and PS3 is very divisive, opinions are split down the middle about whether it was awful or a return to form. The Wii version got generally positive reviews, and it was this game that paved the way for the next few entries. IMO, the PS3/360 version is one of the worst games I have ever played and the Wii version is okay. Miss and Hit
Colors: Even the most cynical critics had to admit that this game was pretty damn good. It took the parts of Unleashed that were well received and improved them, while also cutting out the fat for a much leaner and more satisfying experience. This one ties with SA2 for me. Hit
Generations: Another critical slam dunk; the inclusion of classic Sonic was a major selling point even for people who hadn't liked any of the previous 3D games. I'm not as fond of it as most people seem to be, I rank it just below Adventure. Hit
Lost World: This was a game that nobody asked for. Critics and fans alike were confused and disappointed by it, and I feel pretty much the same. Miss
Forces: Although it didn't exactly get glowing critic reviews, the word of mouth has been fairly positive and I think it's a big step up from Lost World. I'd rank this as a tie with Adventure. Hit
So, altogether that's a ratio of 7:3, or 70% positive. If you include the Genesis trilogy and Mania (4 hits), Shadow the Hedgehog (miss), Secret Rings (hit), and Boom (miss) the ratio is 12:5/71%. If you include the GBA and DS entries (5 hits), it goes up to 17:5/77%. Unless you're grading on a 7-10 scale like most video game critics these days, those are fairly good results.
Give me your :autism: ratings if you want, I'm just tired of every discussion about these games turning into a bunch of people who have never played them spouting tired memes from 10 years ago as if that constitutes an informed opinion.
Modded it's easily the best Mario Kart, there are what, 250+ maps now for MKW?I actually enjoyed Mario Kart Wii.
I don’t understand why people think Shadow of the Colossus is so great. While the point of exploring is nice and dandy, it’d be amazing if there were things you could actually interact with. The big “Tragic Love Story” aspect also doesn’t make much sense to me either, in my opinion, Wander deserved everything he got, and was a selfish prick that I couldn’t find much sympathy for. Death happens, deal with it.
I did like the designs of the Colossi though.
i thought those were in the original tooAre you referring to the original or the remake in terms of exploring? The remake does add little items you can find throughout the world. In both, you find trees with fruit that increase your health, and the little lizards with white tails increase your stamina if you eat their tails.
Bioshock is the single most overrated game of all time and it's intro created a whole generation of edgelord fedora tipping rightwing lolberts.
i thought those were in the original too
not everything needs to be a fucking esport. especially battle royale games like fortnite. how the fuck are you supposed to tell what's going on in a 4v4 building battle? how are you even going to spectate it? what about the times where literally nothing is happening but teams running around for 10 minutes looting before finding another team? what about the incredible amount of rng the game is based on? ffs
Seriously? What was the point of that? Bungie doesn't know he exists and they already got his his money. What do they care if he snapped his own disk?Apparently one of them broke their Halo: Reach disk just to spite Bungie,
Part of me hopes he was exaggerating, but video game autism knows no bounds I guess.
always thought they were both equally as good tbh:powerlevel: I guess I need to say my piece on this :powerlevel:
BTW Reach is just as good as Halo 3, there I said it. .
fighting a dragon the first few times is amazingI'm unsure if this is an unpopular opinion, but I find deathclaw battles in Fallout much more thrilling than dragon battles in Skyrim.
Yeah, even I wasn't too crazy about that change. Sure, it forces you to specialize some more, but I liked having that little bit of leeway that 3 & NV had. Doesn't help that those stats are all useful, or at least none of them are total dumpstats like Charisma is in NV.also opinion:
the worst thing about fallout 4 isn't what everyone says
it's the fact that you have 17 less points to spend on your special stats
in new vegas you start with all of them at 5 and you get 10 more to spend
in 4 you start with them all at 1 and can only get them all at 4
you can't even start as an average jack of all trades if you want
This is hardly that much of an issue though. I always figured they lowered that at the beginning because the game doesn't have a level cap. It's not hard to end up with perfect 10 stats.also opinion:

but after a while, it becomes annoying to the point where i sometimes just keep walking and hope it leaves
you either come down here and fight or fuck off dragon
I would post in the MAD ABOUT VIDEOGAMES salt thread when it comes to the Halo community, but then again it would also make for a very depressing community watch thread.
343i are at a crossroads, but the roads are already weathered to gravel, and the high point for them is only outside the limits of civilization, right at the border of the Arizona desert in June. I was the local shit poster of a competitive Halo forum circa 2014-2015, and only stayed because I wanted to have some connections to decade-long participants. I at first signed up because I figured 343i would have sought some kind of community intervention with the Master Chief Collection, but they had released it on a Frankenstein build in a ramshackle state that was not going to ever work without overhauling aspects of the original trilogy's framework. Not only did it worsen the divide of the competitive and casual, but it brought along Kangaroo-Court level witch hunts towards anyone who didn't encourage the committing of Sudoku of 343i's staff. Putting it politely, Bonnie and Kiki are a couple of bulldyke sleazebags, but Dan Ayoub (upper management) never deserved any of thethreats he received, and the way I see it Frank O'Connor gave up on staying in touch with the community after Halo 2's roaring success and boosting of the Xbox Live service, not that Halo 3 needed him to be so involved as to succeed. He's just a mouthpiece now that no one outside of NeoGAF remembers.
I was pissed, but they still have my money from that bitter holiday season. That was three years ago, but whoever still viciously defends classic Halo won't move past that point anyways. They won't be a part of the change they vaunt for on their cross. I stopped posting anything serious because everyone was more caught up in lamenting and the mods won't delete redundant TL;DR rant posts or relegate them to appropriate megathreads.
But now, three years later, 343 Industries decides to tackle the idea of revisiting a three year old game to fix it. Do I have the upmost faith that it'll be a successful endeavor? Not that it'll matter much in the longer(?) run, but what does matter is the fact they're even going to try to do it. This is a Microsoft owned department that works like a department but not a studio that ever functions by itself, this makes it a surprising proposal. Otherwise I suspected the SEGA effect is taking over their corporate headquarters, potential in-fighting, eschewing lesser known to more reputable staff and participants by at least nine different accounts. Hopefully the seat switching and seat filling do more good than harm, perhaps Halo could reset itself one day from where Halo 4 left off and give the Ur-Didact a proper lifespan worth dedicating a whole saga to. As it stands Halo 5: Guardians has a really fantastic forge world but a mostly shitty Titanfall clone (Warzone) that takes itself too seriously. As far as Microtransaction's are concerned, 343i had the decency not to set a gamblers precedence but something that is better compared to Bing Rewards, I'm hoping they won't go down the EA rabbit hole of shitty loot mechanics which are being monitored by key judiciary parties.
Despite all that, legacy fans are STILL putting pre-Activision Bungie on a pedestal using nothing but hot air and nostalgia. Even though they didn't ever lean on Microsoft to forward a better Xbox Live experience outside of the United States, brushed off weapon balancing as a non-issue, and let hostile flame wars take over their discussion boards with meager moderation. Bungie sold out to Activision for a reason, they were always comfortable within their borrowed place in Microsoft's blue ocean. Their debutante is all anyone talks about anymore, I see no productive discussion beyond Halo Combat Evolved anymore, and even with that it's salty nothings.
Speaking of that TL;DR...
TOO LONG DIDN'T READ BOTH BUNGIE AND MICROSOFT FUCKED UP BUT A GROSS MAJORITY OF THEIR FANS OUTSIDE OF NICHE DEVELOPERS DON'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT TO MAKE THE SITUATION BETTER BY WANKING OFF THEIR NOSTALGIA COCKS EVEN IF 343 INDUSTRIES SOMEHOW MIRACULOUSLY MOVES TOWARDS A BETTER DIRECTION THAN BUNGIE.
Games do actually have a problem with depiction of women, Ves design in the Witcher 3 is so ridiculous sexualised it's actually immersion breaking, everyone is huddling around fires freezing with breath coming out of their mouths, then out comes Ves, walking around with her entire front unbuttoned down to her vjay jay. That said, I absolutely fucking hate this meme in modern western video games of STRONK WOMEN where it's just some Latino or some shit acting even more masculine than the male characters.
Japanese games have way better deceptions of women despite most Japanese female characters being nothing more than walking cliches.
Half Life 2 is a massively overrated game, even for the time it came out in. (I found F.E.A.R. way more impressive at release around the same time, though in fairness, Valve burnt a lot of bridges with me with the constant delays and bullshit excuses for HL2 being pushed back every fucking fortnight)
Bioshock is the single most overrated game of all time and it's intro created a whole generation of edgelord fedora tipping rightwing lolberts.
Sims 2 is overrated as fuck and there is no reason for you not to like Sims 4 if you like Sims 2 since Sims 4 is basically just a remake of Sims 2 with better build options. Sims 3 is the peak of the Sims franchise and WHY IN FUCK HASN'T EA RELEASED A 64BIT EXE YET?
EA are not the worst company in America, but they are the worst fucking company in the gaming industry and incredibly toxic and their execs should be loaded onto the next fucking rocket and fired into the fucking sun.
Also fuck
Modded it's easily the best Mario Kart, there are what, 250+ maps now for MKW?
Oh and it's less unbalanced than fucking MK8D.
The Modern Warfare series (1-3) were all pretty solid games and their single player and co-op was easily the best thing going in FPS' for awhile. Black Ops had promise but tried to do the "Near Future" bullshit after the first one that makes everything feel so antiseptic in its execution (looking at you, ARMA 3, Ghost Recon Future Warrior series and that ilk)that it just cannot be fun.
Plus doing overwatch from an AC-130 was a shit ton of fun
