I think that's the first ban we had on this thread. Damn. I never thought I'd see the day were someone actually tried to defend Rory's racist art. Huh.
Getting back on topic, Rory's problem is that she makes waaaayyy too many alt accounts with her name and shitty art. She has private accounts we discovered a few pages back, she deleted some accounts beforehand. She is the epitome of not knowing how to handle an online persona. If you're going to have a professional account it's best you stick nothing personal on it because it causes problems in the long run.
That and the fact she used her ACTUAL NAME which is internet 101 of what not to do.
When people try to look shit up on her for a bg check what's the first thing they're gonna see? Her shitty art and attitude. I typed in her full name in Google search and this thread came up. She's kind of fucked unless she cleans up her attitude.

I think after the Star Wars art backlash she's too afraid to draw black people now. When she got criticized for tranny bimbo Captain America she just stopped drawing Marvel. Which means that's actually two for one on reasons why we probably won't see Black Panther art from her: black Marvel characters are something she's "learned" to avoid. read: she learned precisely jack shit about why people don't like her art, just that she should avoid certain topics

has rory's art improved at /all/ from 2016 when this thread started? I went to college and took two art classes and came out knowing how to draw people properly and shade things right. First year students usually are the ones to excel the most at first. once you get to third year, growth rate pretty much tapers off with skill.

its so terrible. SO TERRIBLE.
when I was in school we learned all different kinds of styles and methods for things. People dont have to "develop" a style. It just comes naturally. You learn anatomy and apply different methods to things, and through the choice of your methods you learn how to draw properly in your own "style" which is just the natural way you draw. People who get stuck in "their own style" typically have no skill to get out of it, or dont want to develop that skill.
It also appears she has sameface, which in itself is evidence enough that she's not learning anything in school. god. all that money wasted.

Is it fair to call her racist for just not knowing how to draw black people, though? She clearly has no racist intentions and tried to make art of people she finds good looking, she's just ignorant.

thats what gets me. she knew /how/ to draw black people, but then went with a caricature instead. My issue isnt that she didnt know she was making a racist caricature, but the fact that she cant tell bloody faces apart from each other besides race. the only thing she knows how to do is give her characters stereotypical race attributes because she doesnt know how to make people look different.

I get the point you're trying to make, but it's kind of hard to claim her art using racial stereotypes to be "just ignorance" when she draws a character that canonically looks like this:

Though I think it's less a case of being actively racist and more just trying to be "realistic" and reap SJW points to the point where it turns into caricatures that not even Tumblr could tolerate.

Yeah i can see that. It can be frustrating when americans or english speaking people are hypercritical of very nuanced issues all across the board and regardless of where you live or what culture you grew up in, especially if its often only really relevant to their national discourse/language. That being said she grew up in the states, lives in a very liberal area and america has an especially unfortunate history with drawing black people a certain way that links back to minstrel era, so many, especially black people probably see her art and are immedetially reminded of these tropes that were super racist back in the day because they were based off of white people immitating black people for the pure purpose of making fun of them.
Like she may not intentionally be racist but it seems like a bit of a huge oversight, if she cares about being a progressive artist i feel like she should at least be familiar with most racial stereotypes, which just makes it even more of a flop. I have no idea if she’s actually racist, if she fetishizes stereotypical racial features and dosent think about the implications, if she’s just dense, but we can all agree the end result is a fucking mess.

I’m still perplexed as to why Rory does that though, like what would drive someone to seemingly have a Midas hand that causes everything they touch to turn into an offensive stereotype?
