The only way he'd ever make money self hosting is serving malware to his visitors. I doubt he'd make much even then.

  • Stream VODs: Sub-only
  • YouTube: Only a single video per day, maybe the first hour of the post-prestream, with a outro saying "Head over here to see the rest of my stream" linking to his Twitch VOD for that stream
He would probably get more patrons and more subs.

I don't think he really has the audience numbers for this to work. His Twitch only gets 3-400 viewers and I can't see many of them deciding to sub just for those things.

Plus he'd be cutting out YouTube almost entirely (sort of) with doing it.

But it would be funny to see.

After the first hour of gameplay (that's 6 videos) from the first stream he does on a game he's basically getting $0.50 a video optimistically so I think it'd be a good move. As a consequence of not spamming out 20-40 videos a day he'd also probably have higher retention and less YouTube unsubscribes/"I'm not going to subscribe to a channel that uploads this much." That first video would also be an advertisement for the gameplay, giving people the option of deciding whether or not they want to "miss out" over $5 (FOMO).

I don't know if it'd succeed- but it's a change and he could always experiment

He doesn't make much initially, but the backlog of videos is how he makes as much as he does. He still manages 40-60k views a day and ~1.5M views a month. At $1 CPM, that's still around $1500 a month for basically doing nothing but uploading his twitch stream and collecting passive income on his old videos.

And just for funsies, here's where Phil's at after his day off. Note that I've added a simple estimate of sub money based on Nightbot's total. All non-chat subs are assumed to be Tier 1.

Total cheers: 5535
Final bit total is: $ 1726.04
Average cheer: $ 0.31
Subs: 225 (221@$4.99, 3@$9.99, 1@$24.99, 21 gifted, 58.67% resubs)

He's rife with disfluency when he's attempting to sound informed or educated. This type of thing happens when someone is unprepared for the question asked or lacks the vocabulary or insight to respond promptly. If only Phil would have gotten that scholarship to Harvard like he had hoped. But, he's white. White people don't get into Ivies.

I think its pretty clear that he's banking on YouTube doing an about turn and returning to channel's like his being profitable again. The problem is, even if they did this his account wouldn't get many views/money because of the way he spams uploads.

Just like he's banking on the Seattle real estate boom continuing.
Just like he's banking on his CT condo being worth drastically more again in the future.
Just like he's banking on his fanbase being able to raise enough money to meet his financial obligations instead of changing things now.

I'm not really thinking any of these will happen.

But Phil will keep on chugging on hoping for change to benefit him. He'll also try whatever he feels like when he can beat his own laziness

(Also thinking of watching this whole thread but have been on the fence since content can come pretty fast and I'm not as invested in Phil as I am in other cows)
 
Let's be honest, he'd fuck it up somehow even if things started changing in his favor. He had you could argue his biggest clean slate when he went back to Twitch. Of course people knew of him, but there were millions of users who didn't, potentially thousands of new viewers if he just cleaned up his act and acted pleasant. What does he do? Same old shit, alienate viewers, treat paying subs like shit, passively-aggressively bringing up drama but pretending he doesn't want it. Why he finds pretending to be a decent person so hard I don't understand. Thousands of other Streamers can at least act like they care.

He's too stuck in his ways now for any real chance of a break through. Hand him a silver platter he'll return it in a month covered in shit and blame you for it.

DSP is so delusional that he thinks he actually has some sort of "known brand". He does have a small, dedicated fanbase but he doesn't really have a brand beyond "isn't that the guy that masturbated on stream".
No one is going to pay a thousand dollars to interview DSP, let alone most YouTubers or streamers unless they're doing it for comedy or are delusional. There's nothing stopping DSP from changing his stupid name(s) (the king of hate too) and getting something that isn't quite as exceptional.

Nich posted on TKOH recently saying that the "hate" part is probably something that gets him demonetized, but people have been telling him this same shit for ages. Closing comments and blocking dozens of people a day isn't The King of Hate, he's the fucking King of Autism.

He'll never change his name though because he thinks he's "made it" which he only says when he isn't in turbo begging mode, then it's "you guys have helped me to make it". Nigga you have like 20 different loans, you haven't "made it".
