vermintide 2 is the sequel of the warhammer/rat themed left 4 dead ripoff, though the most obvious difference is the focus on melee combat. you can play as one of five different heroes, each having their own playstyle based on their skills and equipment. each character has three subclasses, more or less determining if you're going to focus on hordes, special enemies, or ranged weapons. in the hub world you're able to fuck around and more importantly manage equipment. unlike left 4 dead, you select your weapons before you start a level. completing maps and leveling your character up will give you (free to open) lootboxes containing random equipment for your character, each item a little bit stronger than the one before it. gameplay requires a significant amount of coordination between players, so while pub matches on higher difficulties are a crapshoot you can drag your friends along.

i've been mostly playing as the dwarf, usually as ironbreaker to tank hordes but slayer is maximum fun.

Kerillian becoming a meme it's the last thing I was expecting in 2018
Playing as Sienna Unchained atm,Pyro is more op but Unchy is badass as fuck
Oh,and this game is a big middle finger to Age of Sigmar: Fatshark nailed how Warhammer should be,dirty gritty and nasty, not a sanitazed 40K with castles and dragons

i haven't played the first once so my frame of reference is somewhat fucked but i swear everything they say about kerillian is true. during a champion run of against the grain, a level 30 elf player didn't know what the hell's going on. he would not stop pulling patrols that didn't notice us, got downed five or six times before we even got to any prisoners, and after a friend of mine asked him what he was doing he only responded with a nasally "yeah ok level 20" and left. bots have been more useful than elf players.

With the complaints I'm hearing about developers banning people on steam for asking questions about patch notes and the fact that Autodesk discontinued the game engine for it and now asking for people to either use Maya or 3DMax, I don't think this game is going to last long.

In the end the Skaven win. Even if it doesn't happen in-game, the Skaven emerge victorious.

Been watching criken play it, it seems to be a pretty fun game to be honest. I never looked into the first one but fantasy was always an interest of mine. The twitch integration is fucking fantastic and the role-playing of chat when the option comes up is hilarious. Criken and co have different skaven clans for each player and they host little raids and war with eachother. It's easily one of the only good things I have seen on twitch.

Slayer looks pretty fun, I can't run the game but I would love to play as a little gotrek and eat niggas out.

I might pick it up when the first big sale happens. Is it fun with randos?

I don’t think I’ve had a single game where she hasn’t been on the team.

slayer is fun but ironbreaker is brainlet tier easy if you have drakefire pistols. The drakegun might be the worst flamethrower I've ever seen in a video game and that's saying something.

yeah Kerillian players are usually garbo.

Aye, the archer ninja elf is an appealing choice to underage edgelords. So while the character itself is pretty viable gameplay-wise, it tends to attract newbie trash who piss away half the Trueflight arrows on clanrats. At least that's my experience with Kerillian players in the first game.

yeah, i think the drakegun just has a single hitscan right in the center of the crosshair and the particles aren't indicative of what you're actually hitting. i haven't used the drakefire pistols in a while since i got a grudgeraker that gives ammo on headshots. you can actually knock out specials pretty far away with it since the spread is fixed and one projectile will always go right where you're aiming.
i feel like they need to buff ranger veteran and slayer if they want to make them viable compared to IB. not like i've played much of them, but pyromancer and bounty hunter can pretty much solo maps and very rarely do i see people playing any other classes for sienna and saltzpyre

Slayer buffs done. Still won't make the class viable, it's so much of a liability. Like, insanely so. IB is simply the best dwarf and most likely always will be; the bastard can just ignore hits and tank tons of damage. How are you feeling about the fact that Veteran loot drops up to 300 now? It feels like they just completely took out an entire tier of difficulty/gearing in their progression ladder.

It's fun. It's not SUPER fun with randos, though. The host can D/C and the entire game drops because it's hosted by the player who started the queue in the first place, meaning you can have ragequitting hosts that ruin a decent run for some dumb reason.

It's also not super RNG lootbox crazy. Can't pay for boxes, you can craft specific items, and you can reroll special properties/traits as much as you'd like if you're salvaging extra [useless] gear. I feel like it's a pretty interesting way to keep the Left 4 Dead model fun borrowing from MMO concepts.

As far as Sienna goes, at least Unchained has tank and burst potential. Bounty Hunter is the only subclass Salty has that seems to have any potential at all. I’ve been trying to fuck with the base witch hunter for the last few days with nothing but frustration.

Not even these cleave debuffs can stop the awesome might of Blessed Shot repeater handgun. Praise Sigmar!

Also guess I better dump my stock of Vermintide memes.

Very addictive. Slayer, Grail Knight and Zealot are my favourite.
Shame this thread is dead would have enjoyed reading the autism this game brings out in people.

In case anybody gives a shit, Steam has Vermintide 2 for free right now and it's only available for a few hours more.
That's because the new Warhammer Darktide (WH 40,000 sequel to Vermintide) is being released at the end of the month.

There was also the new campaign map, which can get spicy at the finale.

Also, the Darktide™ pre-order beta/(likely content limited) early access thing starts next week. I assume Darktide discussion would be fine here.
