TGWTG "Nostalgia Critic" / Doug Walker, Rob Walker, Mike Michaud, Mike Ellis, Holly Christine Brown, et al - The Incompetent Predator-Protecting Upper Management of Channel Awesome, Doug Still Not That Funny

I spent 10 years on epilim - half of that time I spent smoking weed.

Brad will be fine...probably.

I cannot for the life of me find the video, but Brad had done a video in the past talking about his seizure disorder (possibly the same video where he fell off his porch and broke a bone? During the ex-saga) and he mentioned his drug abuse in the past and how the seizure disorder was part of why he stopped. Pretty sure. Could be my memory merging two videos together.

[EDIT] Also there is research into weed being good for epilepsy so that's probably why you were fine.

Speaking of less savory, ironically, Lindsey herself, along with fellow complainant Linkara, and others are specifically named in one of the fan complaints, alleging they got "completely plastered" during the channel's Ronald McDonald House charity fundraiser before their bits, and couldn't "give less of a shit" about the charity drive, and didn't care when (old news) Spoony hung up on a questioner who paid hundreds of dollars to ask about Final Fantasy 9.

Douchey on Spoony's part, but why the fuck would anyone pay that much money hear someone rattle on about a video game for a few minutes?

According to socialblade, the unsubscribing has tapered off, forming a neat little bellcurve in the daily statistics. It's still going down, but CA's lost over 25,000 subs to date.

It looks like the views are starting to taper off, too. The last couple of daily views are below average.

This is the same guy who made a three and a half minute tribute to his beard when he decided to shave it off once.
Didn't he also acknowledge that the color of the wall behind him changed once? It must be exhausting to have a fanbase so spergy that one feels obliged to explain such inconsequential changes.

Oh yes, he did. And he ranted about it, changing it various times and basically summed it up with "You are why we can't have nice things."

...and, given the lack of contributors, one of the most important producers at Channel Awesome.

Aside from the remaining four from the old guard (Doug, Brad, Joe, Sage), the only ones left with any significant following seem to be Larry (who I wouldn't exactly call a "friend" of the site despite still uploading content), MasakoX (one of the guys from TFS) and someone called Toons These Days/Dtoons, who I guess reviews cartoons and uploads pretty infrequently, though is variable in the number of views he gets on each video (some have over a million views, others are in the thousands, so I'm guessing his popularity mostly depends on the series he talks about rather than anything inherently unique about his content).

And again, lets keep in mind that all these guys, including Sage, Brad, and Joe, despite being arguably in the same range of popularity as Doug when it comes to youtube views, can barely get anyone to comment on their videos on CA (I'm using comments as a metric for popularity since they don't show actual video views), whilst Dougs videos usually get 50+ comments. There is literally no point in keeping around this website anymore. If Doug had any sense, he'd buy out Michaud, and start uploading to youtube. Hell, if he's that concerned with copyright, maybe he could get in early on some of these alt-tech websites like Bitchute, both as a way to back up his content and maybe to try and pull in a new audience in the process.

Edit: grammar

Everyone was drunk off their ass in those charity drives.

I've rewatched the video of the Spoony incident and it's more generous to Noah than everyone remembers. The infamous original clip that got posted to YT years back removes the context. The caller had given $300 and had already spent 4 minutes rambling about dumb bullshit while there were other callers on the line waiting their turn. By the time he got to Noah they (the other producers) were obviously eager to move on, so hanging up was as much their doing as it was his. He also wasn't as rude as some people claim, especially factoring in the context.

The VODs are still archived on ustream. They don't play for me in Chrome anymore, but here's the one where it happens if it works for anyone else. Skip to about 1:46:00.

Also, it was a fucking charity stream. He was one donor of many, and $300 or not he should be giving to support the cause, not have his every question answered. Whether he got his money's worth is for him to judge.

Haven't seen anyone mention this, but the doc has been updated, according to MarzGurl.

This ride is far from over, guys. We still have Fredrik's interview with Holly to look forward to. (The one he set up during his stream)

Oh, and sorry if this has been posted, but I found this little screenshot on Fredrik's twitter while looking for any updates about said interview.

EDIT: OK, just read the update. One was from some person named Leslie Rice. I have no idea who she is.

The second, and most interesting, addition came from IronLiz. She has quite a bit to say about the making of Suburban Knights.

It's been mentioned, but I can't help but be amused and think somewhere Linkara's going "DAMMIT! I should have been there! That should have been my cinnabon!"

Lesile Rice is Terror Obscura (and male), one of the newer producers. Decent horror reviews, seems like a decent guy. I watched him before he was signed to CA & he was really excited when he finally got picked up. Ah, the disillusionments of youth.

Also. has Holly or Fredrik confirmed they're doing an interview beyond that LiveStream...?
