Why does Tumblr have an obsession with vitiligo?

  • Suicide Girl model and America's Next Top Model contestant have it, spread on Tumblr, that's why.

Spider-girl is sure acting like a spaz for someone who "totally won that internet argument"

Sex-negative SJW tries to "fix" some BNHA female character's outfits. Sex-negative SJW throws a tantrum when called out on it. A slap fight takes place in the reblogs.

(First two links aren't on archive.is because the OP has the "sensitive media" filters on. They should be included in the third one, tho.)
I don't understand the "characters don't have a choice, so it's bad" argument. Of course the character doesn't have a choice. No fictional character has a choice on the same level of an actual person because they're not real and are incapable of making their own decisions without a writer. These characters (within the context of the story) are wearing these outfits of their own volition and real women are willing to dress like them, so why does it matter?

What sjws say: "Look at this strong female character!"
What sjws mean: "Look at wide shoulders muscular man with feint boob lines"

:story:
One thing that "fascinated" me was how the characters' labels (especially their sexualities) drew them in more that who they were. The author has had a history of young female characters being turned off by men: both teenage heroines from Princeless and The Unstoppable Wasp thought boys were icky (and neither are Wasp's teen girl group interested and two of them become a couple).

I seen people argue its all due to things like sexualization and in the case of things like video games, immersion. In all honesty beyond any of these things, its all just fiction. While boobplate and the like can be eyerolling at times, the sperging over it comes to a point where another can say its just fiction where you got all sorts of fantastical shit.

It's funny because they're so focused on the labels they tell nothing about the quality of the comic itself, as if they only cared about that... It's like every sjw/tumblr comic description.

"What's the deal about this (web)comic?"
"It has a lot of racially diverse and physically strong lesbians. Maybe a few token trans and cripples too."
"But what about everything else? Is it even good?"
"It has gays and shit, what else do you need?! If you don't like it you're homophobic/racist/misoginist!"

honestly, these redesigns aren't bad at all. it keeps the spirit of the original outfits(except for maybe the last one), doesn't remove their femininity, and they do make sense. the artist's explanation makes sense to me as well(besides the whole HURR A MAN DESIGNED THEM deal) and the reply that they got is spergier by a mile. the whole "you can't change their outfits because they were designed like that for a reason" argument doesn't hold water when the redesigns could technically have the same functionality as the original.
plus the reason they made edits seems to be because the characters are like 15, not because they didn't like that the outfits were too girly.

i'm sure there's some really bad redesigns for these characters though. like how people try to redesign lapis but end up making her look like a vitiligo-ridden pile of sludge.

That's always been a point of contention for me. Who cares if anime characters are oversexualized? Shit ain't even real, nigga

Do these people ever see ecchi anime shows that 90% characters are high school teens and don't get me started of the tons of hentai shows, doujinshis, and nsfw fanarts of mostly anime teens. People who like to complain about sexual outfits of high schoolers are fairly new to the otaku fandom and don't know a few things about anime and japan culture. I'm surprised that many tumblr users are into anime in the first place due to the many ""problematic"" things are in anime that they don't like.

I've been to Akihabara and they sell oversexualized animu by the metric shitton. Go into any of the stores and there's an adult section dedicated to an otaku teenaged boy's fantasy. If you wander for 30 minutes, all of their stuff is overtly fanservice-y. If any of these idiots went to Akiba, they'd have an apoplexy.
